Zeven uur, één tour: pure geschiedenis

Zeven uur lijkt misschien lang - maar natuurlijk nemen we pauzes in cafés of in een park zodat ik je een aantal dingen in detail kan uitleggen, we maken fotostops, enz. Ik geef je een zeer grondig inzicht in 1000 jaar geschiedenis - vanaf de oprichting van het land tot op de dag van vandaag. Deze stad en dit land hebben een beslissende invloed gehad op de Europese geschiedenis. Ik leid geen groepen - alleen jij en ik, maximaal 6 gasten, of het nu gaat om gezinnen of reizigers samen - ik wil een constante dialoog met je hebben. U kunt uw route altijd wijzigen - er is hier zoveel te zien. Tot nu toe hebben al mijn gasten het geweldig gevonden.

Om bij de Praagse Burcht te komen, stappen we een station na het kasteel uit om de drukte te vermijden en lopen we door een bijna lege, maar buitengewoon mooie en bezienswaardige wijk genaamd de Nieuwe Wereld.
Dit is een van de meest aantrekkelijke Centraal-Europese Maria-heiligdommen, een kloosterachtig complex met de Casa Santa in het midden, een adembenemende kerk en een schatkamer. De historische achtergrond is buitengewoon interessant, aangezien onderzoek een paar jaar geleden heeft uitgewezen dat de mythische grondleggende legende waar is.
Dit is de belangrijkste attractie van Praag en is daarom vaak overvol. We beslissen samen ter plaatse of we ze willen bezoeken of niet. Het kasteel is van groot historisch en architectonisch belang. Het dominante kenmerk is de kathedraal, die in het midden van het kasteel staat, wat zowel religieuze als politieke redenen heeft. In deze context zal ik je ook het spannende verhaal vertellen over de oorsprong van de gotiek - bijna geen enkele andere tour heeft dit zo diepgaand te bieden.
Dit is een heel mooie, maar ook vaak overvolle straat. Maar we gaan al snel naar Jánský vršek, de Johannisberg, een rustige wijk waar vroeger veel Italiaanse kunstenaars woonden. Waarom en waarom vertel ik je in detail, want ook hier was er een nauw verband tussen kunst, politiek en religie.
Het grote centrale plein van de zogenaamde Lesser Town vol architectuur en geschiedenis, religieuze veldslagen, barokke pracht en spionageverhalen uit WOI.
We naderen de Moldau en komen op een zeer interessante plaats, evenals de kerk en de ambassade van de Orde van Malta, verder naar het prachtige paleis van de Franse ambassade (dat op afspraak kan worden bezocht), naar de zogenaamde Lennonmuur, maar een zwakke Bekijk hun oorspronkelijke uiterlijk en ga verder naar Kampa Island, een prachtige groene oase met een aantal zeer interessante attracties.
Een prachtig klein museum voor moderne kunst in een voormalige grote molen met hedendaagse tentoonstellingen en de grootste collectie schilderijen van František Kupka, een van de pioniers van abstracte kunst. Een van mijn favoriete musea, geïnitieerd door een van de meest interessante vrouwen in de recente geschiedenis van Praag. We hebben haar biografie in onze bibliotheek en ik zal je de ongelooflijke toevalligheden vertellen waarmee deze vrouw haar collectie tegenkwam.
Als de Karelsbrug overvol is, steken we de Moldau over op de Brug van de Legioenen richting de oude stad. Daar worden we begroet door het Nationale Theater, dat zowel het resultaat als een getuige is van politieke conflicten en een van de symbolen is van het streven van het land naar onafhankelijkheid aan het einde van de 19e eeuw. Ik heb je daar veel over te vertellen.
We wandelen de hele oude stad door - afhankelijk van wat je al weet en wat je niet weet. Ik zal je liever de minder bekende bezienswaardigheden laten zien en je inzicht geven in de oorsprong van deze stad en haar duizendjarige geschiedenis.
Als we genoeg tijd hebben, zou ik de tour graag met jullie willen afsluiten met een kopje koffie in het grote Art Nouveau café in de parochiezaal. Dit gebouw herbergt een concertzaal, een galerie, twee restaurants, een bar en een café. Het huis is het mooiste Art Nouveau-gebouw van Praag - wat mij de gelegenheid geeft je het zeer ongebruikelijke verhaal te vertellen van hoe de Art Nouveau tot stand kwam.

Our guide was excellent and provided us with a solid foundation to Prague. His timing was really good, but yet flexible so that they’re extra things that we want to see he was open to anything.
I enioyed walking Prague with our guide Gunther and learning about the history of Prague and the Czech Republic.
This day walking tour was intensive and extraordinarily insightful. Gunther is alert to your interests and questions, and happy to pace exploration to individual needs. Cannot more highly recommend but do wear your best walking shoes!

He is passionate about his subject areas- which are extremely vast and most passionate about his customers enjoyment in viewing any city. He was thoughtful and as two women traveling alone, we felt so safe with him. He made sure we entered our hotel when he left us for the day, carried our bags, which was a huge help, and spotted me crowns and euros when necessary. I have never met a guide like him and truly don’t believe I ever will again. He is simply remarkable! Whether you book him for a day, week, or month he is the best guide you will ever get. It’s always a great sign when others are calling and trying to book him when he’s with you. We were so lucky that he was able to work us into a four day span, as he’s in such high demand. This tour allowed me to have a better understanding of the historic events taking place in Prague during the period of construction and development of the various sites visited. Guenther is very knowledgeable and an excellent communicator.
We walked around Old Town and visited historic sites that are not normally visited by tourist. We learned about Chech history and the people who lived in this country.
I spent a lovely day in Prague with Gunther, a brilliant historian who brings a wealth of knowledge and insight into one of the most interesting and complex cities in all of Europe. I learned so much about the history, politics, architecture, culture of Prague and its inhabitants. Gunther knows the city backwards and forwards, and was able to craft a highly enjoyable walking experience that told the city's story in a coherent and accessible fashion. Most importantly, Gunther skillfully designed a route thay avoided the city's sizeable crowds - which is no easy feat.
