Het is een van de oudste steden van Europa en heeft een grote artistieke schoonheid en gebouwen uit bijna alle periodes in de geschiedenis (Arabisch, Gotisch, Mudejar, Renaissance en Barokstijl). Toledo wordt de "Stad van de Drie Culturen" genoemd, omdat christenen, moslims en joden samenwoonden. In de zestiende eeuw was het ook de woonplaats van de grote schilder El Greco. De Primaatkathedraal van Sint-Maria van Toledo is een rooms-katholieke kerk in Toledo, Spanje. Het is de zetel van het Metropolitaanse aartsbisdom van Toledo
Het is vandaag de site van het Legermuseum van de stad. De constructie dateert uit de Romeinse tijd. Tijdens de regeerperiode van Alfonso VI en Alfonso X 'the Wise' werd het herbouwd en werd het het eerste voorbeeld van een vierkant fort met torens op de hoeken. Het werd opnieuw herbouwd onder keizer Karel V, bij deze gelegenheid door de architect Alonso de Covarrubias. The tour company overbooked. We were the last two standing with one seat left on the bus. After 30 confusing minutes they took a single rider off the bus and we boarded, sitting at opposite ends of the coach. Very poor organization and communication.

We had spent nights in Toledo before.Tour guide recommended that we do not do the Tourist Train, but to do her tour, so we paid 20 euros each extra to do so. Problem was we were constantly on the move with little time to take photos other than the designated stops. We felt rushed and we had no intention of having lunch, but we would not have had time anyway. I would call this a non stop whirlwind tour of Toledo, and would recommend seeing the Alcazar rather than the Synagogue, which was not really much to see. Also, the area where we were let loose for lunch was isolated with not many choices to eat.
Dear William, You bought our Toledo Full day on your own with a panoramic tour in the Tourist Train of Toledo. Given that you were already doing a bus panoramic tour with us, our guide gave you the option to upgrade your tour visiting 2 other monuments with the group, instead of doing the train panoramic tour, and you agreed with this. The 20 euros you paid was for the ticket to the cathedral with an inside guided tour. We are sorry that you regret to have made that choice and that you would have preferred to have enjoyed more free time on your own. The Synagogue you visited is a National Monument, and one of the highlights of the city. We agree with you that the Alcazar is also very interesting, specially for those people interested in the military history as it’s the Museum of the Army. Our tour stopped for lunch in an area with a few restaurants and shops for our travelers to choose the one they prefer. It’s great that you spent some nights in Toledo before.
