Deze zelfstandige tour verkent de twee beste wijken van Brooklyn: DUMBO en Brooklyn Heights. Bekijk de kunstzinnigste wijken van Brooklyn en de meest historische bezienswaardigheden, zoals Brooklyn Bridge en het huis van Truman Capote. Geniet bovendien van de lucht aan het water terwijl u de torenhoge wolkenkrabbers van Manhattan van verre bewondert. Deze iconische brug, geopend in 1883, zag bijna geen daglicht. Terwijl u de indrukwekkende architectuur bewondert, hoort u over de veelheid aan problemen die het bouwproces met zich meebrengt, evenals hoe ingenieurs ze uiteindelijk hebben overwonnen. Als de minder bekende broer of zus van de Brooklyn Bridge wordt de Manhattan Bridge soms onterecht over het hoofd gezien door bezoekers. Maar het is een buitengewoon pittoresk bouwwerk en de DUMBO-buurt dankt zijn naam eigenlijk aan deze brug!
Deze klassieke houten carrousel werd in 1922 gebouwd voor een pretpark in Youngstown, Ohio. Het is gerestaureerd in de oorspronkelijke werkende staat en is een geweldige stop voor jongeren.
Deze beeldschone bogen zijn niet voor niets beroemd op Instagram. Als u op zoek bent naar een geweldige fotoplek om uw bezoek aan Brooklyn te herdenken, dan is dit de halte voor u. De rode baksteen en het weelderige groen contrasteren en zorgen voor een aantal echt gedenkwaardige snapshots.
In de kelder van Willow Street 70 woonde ooit de beroemde auteur Truman Capote. Terwijl hij hier woonde, schreef Capote zijn beroemdste en meest invloedrijke werken: In Cold Blood and Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Cadman Plaza is een aangename groene ruimte, vernoemd naar dominee Samuel Parkes Cadman. Terwijl je door deze vredige ruimte wandelt, leer je Cadman kennen en begrijp je waarom hij belangrijk genoeg was om een park naar te vernoemen.
Het Brooklyn War Memorial heeft twee 6 meter hoge beelden, die tot de grootste in de stad behoorden toen ze voor het eerst werden gebeeldhouwd. Het eert degenen die vochten en stierven tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Je tour eindigt hier, verderop in de straat waar het begon.

A great experience although my phone storage space kept running out and the app did keep crashing so I had to keep reopening it. It would be great if the app had a place where you could take pics/vids and then send them to yourself at the end so your storage doesn't fill up fast 😃

The tour could use more history and less general information like “that’s the Statue of Liberty”. The dumbo portion is hard to do on a weekend because the area is swarming with tourists. There were strange facts choices, as we were walking by the place where Walt Whitman worked, The tour audio instead decided to highlight a shake shack?? Not even the first shake shack, just a random one. I also think it could include more of Brooklyn heights which has so much more history and many significant sites. The tour doesn’t even take you on the promenade or by Arthur Miller’s house. But it was nice to generally have a structured walk all a beautiful fall day.
