Onze rondreis begint hier. Je hoort het verhaal van het ruimhuis en zijn geesten. Oorspronkelijk gebouwd in 1716 is dit het oudste nog bestaande houten gebouw in St. Augustine en heeft het een behoorlijk deel van de geschiedenis gezien. Door de eeuwen heen zijn de muren de kazerne geweest voor Britse soldaten, een school voor de jeugd van en het huis van Juan Genopoly, een leider van de Minorcans. En hun geesten hebben besloten te blijven. We gaan niet naar binnen, alleen aan de buitenkant vertellen we ons verhaal.
De oude stadspoorten van St. Augustine werden gebouwd in 1808 ter vervanging van de verslechterende houten structuur. Staande 3 verdiepingen hoog zijn ze een populaire toeristische attractie. Door de eeuwen heen hebben de oude poorten de inwoners van de stad beschermd tegen invasies. En volgens de lokale legende worden ze achtervolgd door de ziel van de 10-jarige Elizabeth.
In 1821, toen de gele koorts St. Augustine trof, doodde het meer dan 400 van zijn inwoners. Dat was toen meer dan een derde van de bevolking. In een haast begroef de lokale overheid de rottende lijken van de Hugenoten in een massagraf. Je hoort het verhaal van de spookachtige begraafplaats en de geesten die nu op het terrein op de loer liggen.
Potter's Wax Museum was het eerste wassenbeeldenmuseum in Amerika, opgericht in 1948 en herbergt 160 plus enge wassen beelden. Veel karakters zijn al lang voorbij. Het houten gebouw waarin het is gehuisvest, werd gebouwd in 1739 en verhuisde in 1887 naar deze locatie. Voordat het een wassenbeeldenmuseum was, was het een apotheek en naar verluidt de oudste apotheek in de VS. En het spookt!
De Tolomato-begraafplaats is de oudste begraafplaats in Florida die dateert uit de 18e eeuw en vandaag de dag is het de laatste rustplaats voor bisschoppen, slaven, moorden en meer dan 1000 lichamen die in de grond zijn geïnterneerd. Je hoort het verhaal van de jongen die op het terrein rondwaart en ziet zijn grafsteen. Let wel, we gaan niet het kerkhof op, we staan alleen bij de poort.
In de 18e eeuw was deze plek de thuisbasis van het Spaanse buskruit- en munitiemagazijn. In de loop der jaren is het gebouw een pension, een kruidenierswinkel en recentelijk een charmante bed & breakfast geweest, waar de liefste geesten rondspoken. Tegenwoordig wordt het achtervolgd door de zoetste geesten. Ze staan te popelen om je te ontmoeten!
In 1870 werd dit gebouw gebouwd door een heer George Colee voor Marion, zijn verloofde met wie hij van plan was voor de eeuwigheid samen te wonen. Je zult meer te weten komen over Mr. Colee en waar hij nu rondwaart.
Er wordt gezegd dat het wordt achtervolgd door de gemeenste oude dames, deze geest zal zeker iedereen die langsloopt schrikken.

Ooit een toevluchtsoord voor rumlopers, wordt deze plek nu achtervolgd door de oude eigenaar. En het is bekend dat haar geest van het zwaaien van lantaarns van tijd tot tijd opduikt. Je hoort haar verhaal en de geesten die in deze tent rondspoken.

Information was very limited as what you get with an actual tour guide group. While taking this tour we would run into the tour guided group and their information was more detailed and informative

You can go at your own pace, anytime, on your terms, unliked guided tours making it popular for solo travelers, families and those that don't like the restrictions of group tours. If you are looking for that standard guided tour stop of 10 to 15 minute stops with long stories, you won't get that here :). These are meant to be fun, informative and well paced by design. The whole tour is about an hour plus if you do not stop and you'll see many sites in town that many people miss. My family and I did this while put for a belated birthday celebration. We loved being able to go at our own pace, and being able to have a guided walk through some streets that we, somehow, hadn't been despite having gone to St. Augustine multiple times. There was a bit of confusion while we were walking around, though we quickly figured it out. When referencing the Carriage House inn, there are 2 buildings. The first one was on the right, but as we continued down, we realized the stories were a reference to the second Carriage house a bit further down the street and was on the left. Second, the Prince of Wales pub has been permanently closed, and is now ReChic Treasures. Despite those two bits of confusion, my parents and I throughly enjoyed the tour. Also, if doing this at night for a "proper" ghost tour, the Scarlett O'Hara is LOUD. My Mom had difficulty hearing the audio, so we had to go back through that audio after getting the photos we wanted and walking away.

Really fun activity to do! By yourself or with friends! Travel on your on speed is one of my favorites about this! The app was pretty easy to use! Only reason I rated it 4 starts and not 5 because I wish some of the stories were a little longer. But overall I recommend for anyone needing something to do on your own time!
We learned a lot of history of St. Augustine as well as some good ghost tales. The walk is nice and you can go at your own pace.

The tour was fun, Nice to do at your own pace. The only issue was the fact that you get lost and turned around Way too easily. With that being said once you come across another area you wernt looking for the tour changes and starts talking about that location instead of the one you were headed to. So things got a tad confusing, but overall it was a nice tour just gotta pay attention better to certain streets really closely!
Great self-guided tour. After our guided ghost was canceled on us, we were bummed. Then we found this tour and enjoyed doing it at our own pace. So glad are original tour got canceled
I like how he the tour guide felt like he was really with us walking around. I also liked how he said to look up and see a ghost in the window and it was a mannequin. I like the story about the boy named James
