Onze tour biedt een authentieke Zanzibar-ervaring, waarbij de geschiedenis van Stone Town, de natuurlijke schoonheid en reuzenschildpadden van Prison Island en de rijke smaken van een traditionele Spice Farm worden gecombineerd – allemaal begeleid door een deskundige local die de verhalen en cultuur van het eiland tot leven brengt

Stone Town, een UNESCO Werelderfgoed, is een van de intacte historische Swahili kusthandelssteden van Oost-Afrika. Het is tal van winkels, de mix van mensen, de drukke markten en restaurants, moskeeën, kerken en hindoeïstische tempels combineren en verschillende culturen. Tijdens onze Stone Town tour ontdek je interessante artefacten zoals de gebogen Arabische deuren met messing noppen, gebogen balkons, het koloniale postkantoor of de Kanga markt. Onze gidsen zullen de meest interessante dingen spotten. De tour omvat de centrale markt, de voormalige slavenmarkt, de Anglicaanse kathedraal, het huis van Wonder, het oude fort, Freddie Mercury House en nog veel meer.
Vandaag de dag is het eiland een kleine toeristische badplaats, beroemd om zijn reuzenschildpadden. Onze gids zal u een korte introductie geven in het interessante verleden van het eiland en u kunt dan wat tijd doorbrengen met zonnebaden, zwemmen of rondlopen om schildpadden en pauwen te zien. Bovendien brengt een traditionele houten boot je naar Prison Island. Het eilandje werd vroeger gebruikt als privédetentie voor ongehoorzame slaven. Later werd een gevangenis gebouwd, maar nooit echt gebruikt.
U zult worden overweldigd door de overvloed aan exotische kruiden, fruit en groenten groeien in deze tropische tuinen. Proef verschillende verse kruiden zoals kaneel, kardemom, gember, nootmuskaat, vanille of zwarte peper. Proef een verscheidenheid aan vruchten, variërend van rozenappel tot zoete citroen tot guave! Het is ook interessant om te leren hoe sommige planten niet alleen door de lokale bevolking worden gebruikt om bepaalde ziekten te genezen, en hoe andere zoals henna, parfumboom en lippenstiftbomen hun waarde vinden voor het bereiden van cosmetica.

Ophaallocaties en -tijden
Zorg dat u uiterlijk 15 minuten voor de geplande ophaaltijd klaarstaat bij de receptie van uw hotel of de afgesproken ophaallocatie. Onze chauffeur of Gids zal bij aankomst naar uw naam vragen bij de receptie.

Khamis is very knowledgeable and gave us in-depth knowledge and information about stone town and prison island! We started off the day at a reasonable time after being dropped off by our driver from Nungwi. I recommend Khamis to everyone!

We went to StoneTown on our first day in Zanzibar. Khamis took us from the hotel and drove us to Stonetown where we got on a boat and reached Prison Island. There he told us the history of the island - he was very explanatory and we learned a lot of things. We saw turtles that where more than 100 years old. We took some pictures and then we went back to Stonetown. We went on a tour in the city and Khamis told us how old the city was. We saw a lot if culture and historical sites. It is a must see. We even saw the slaves museum there. After that we went to the Spice farm. This was the best part of the day. The people from the farm showed us many fruit and spices plants - cinnamon, avocado and many more. In the end there was a boy who climbed a palm to the end of it and sang a traditional song. Then they cut us a coconut to dring and to eat. At the end we could buy spices for home. It was a wonderful experience - thanks to Khamis, I definetely recommend him - he was kind to everyone of my family. Definitely the best tour guide we could find!

Fantastic guide! (Tall) was very knowledgeable and lots of fun, we were sceptical about Stone Town but Tall made it very enjoyable. The history and builds were fascinating.

Had a great time touring with our guide, Tall, who showed us the amazing sights of prison island and gave us a great historical rundown of how the island came to be. Since we took a private tour, we got to cater the experience to focus on only the elements of the island we cared for. We spent a great amount of time also learning about the turtles that currently inhabit the island, and, on our way back got to have the freshest fruits for lunch. Highly recommend this tour!
