I really enjoyed my experience with Hayden Valley Nature Tours, and after reading that 1 star review, I felt I should share what I personally witnessed because it does not reflect what actually happened that day. Before anyone raised their voice, the Hayden Valley Nature Tours guides repeatedly and politely asked people to move away from the riverbank. The concern was not about viewing distance across the river—it was that people were approaching the river’s edge while wolves and other wildlife were actively feeding on a carcass. Even if the animals were on the opposite side of the river, approaching the shoreline can make wildlife feel uncomfortable and discourage them from returning to feed. Unfortunately, the individuals being asked to move did not listen. Instead, they argued back, shouted, and escalated the situation. It was the loud back-and-forth yelling that caused the animals, which were preparing to come back to the carcass, to retreat. They had been feeding before that confrontation. As someone who was actually there, I completely understood why the Hayden Valley Nature Tours guides stepped in. They weren’t trying to ruin anyone’s experience—they were trying to protect the wildlife and help preserve a natural behavior that everyone had come to witness. I’ve spent a lot of time in Yellowstone, and I’ve seen these guides do far more than simply lead tours. They frequently help direct traffic when rangers aren’t present, encourage visitors to give wildlife the space they need, and willingly share views through their spotting scopes with complete strangers. I’ve personally seen visitors thank them with hugs because they were so grateful for the experience and generosity. Their priority has always been the well-being of Yellowstone’s wildlife and helping everyone enjoy it responsibly. No one enjoys being corrected, but protecting wildlife sometimes requires speaking up when people are affecting animal behavior. I would much rather see guides who care enough to intervene than remain silent while wildlife is being disturbed. I hope people reading these reviews understand that there are always multiple perspectives. I was there, I saw what happened, and from what I witnessed, Hayden Valley Nature Tours was acting in the best interest of Yellowstone’s wildlife—not trying to intimidate visitors or claim ownership of the park. Yellowstone belongs to all of us, but that also means we all share the responsibility of respecting wildlife and allowing these incredible animals to behave as naturally as possible. Absolutely book with Hayden Valley Nature tour, highly recommended!

Wow, just wow. This was the most incredible tour ever. There were 8 of us in 2 Suburban's, our tour guides, Brian & Charlie were outstanding. They know everything about the park and where the wildlife is. We not only saw wolf's and grizzly bears, but saw them feeding!! It was an incredible experience and highly recommended.

The Guided Sunset Safari was amazing. Our tour guide, Jackson, was very knowledgeable about all the wildlife in Yellowstone and his knowlegde of where the animals were in the park along with his sharp eyesight made it possible to see several animals. Being able to see a grizzly bear with a recent kill was a once in a lifetime experience and the mountain goats/rams just walking down the road were fun to see also. My husband, grandson and myself had a wonderful tour and we would recommend Jackson and Hayden Valley Nature Tours to anyone going on a sunrise or sunset tour.

We had the best experience with Charlie! He was so knowledgeable and we came up with a plan on spots to visit with a combination of our wants and his suggestions. Excellent tour and guide!!

Go throughout the park looking for wildlife. Most likely to see Bison, Elk and may come across a grizzly. Wolves and moose are harder to see.

Brian was an absolutely fantastic guide! From the moment we met him, his passion and love for wolves was impossible to miss. It didn’t feel like we were simply joining a tour — it felt like we were stepping into his world for the day, and what an incredible experience that turned out to be. We spent the evening chasing wildlife well past sunset, completely immersed in the beauty and excitement of Yellowstone. Along the way, we spotted so many amazing animals — bears, elk, bison, and even wolves feeding on a carcass. Every moment felt wild, raw, and unforgettable. What made the experience so special was getting to witness someone doing exactly what they love. Brian’s energy, knowledge, and enthusiasm made the entire adventure come alive.
