Nadat je bent opgehaald bij je hotel in Mexico City, ga je eerst naar Coyoacán, welke naam in Náhuatl betekent "plaats van coyotes". Hier geeft je gids je een korte uitleg over de oorsprong en het belang van deze wijk en de omgeving, en je hebt tijd om rond te lopen en als je wilt, een licht ontbijt (op je kosten). De Spanjaarden gebruikten het gebied als hun hoofdkwartier tijdens de verovering van het Azteekse rijk en maakten het tot de eerste hoofdstad van Nieuw-Spanje tussen 1521 en 1523. Het dorp bleef volledig onafhankelijk van Mexico-Stad gedurende de koloniale periode tot in de 19e eeuw. Het stadje Coyoacan, samen met de Boheemse sfeer en de diversiteit aan activiteiten om te doen en plaatsen om te bezoeken, maken van het historische centrum een zeer populaire plek om te bezoeken.
Voor degenen die de optie Blue House kiezen: bezoek het iconische Frida Kahlo Museum (Blauwe Huis), waar de kunstenaar werd geboren, woonde en veel van haar meest betekenisvolle werken creëerde. Verken kamers die bewaard zijn gebleven in de jaren 1950, bekijk persoonlijke bezittingen, kunstwerken, foto's en artefacten die met Diego Rivera zijn gedeeld en kom alles te weten over Frida's leven, erfenis en diepe verbondenheid met haar Coyoacán-huis. Our guide Gerson & driver Hipólito were wonderful. Hipólito managed the crazy traffic to Coyoacán & Xochimilco & back expertly & cautiously while Gerson’s boundless knowledge about Mexico’s history captivated us at every site. He provided helpful tips about food & museums to visit too. We loved Coyoacán & would like to go back to spend more time exploring. The trajinera ride in Xochimilco was so much fun in spite of the thunderstorm. Would highly recommend this particular tour to anyone looking to experience Mexico City to the fullest!
I can't really comment on the tour, as they simply did not show up at the appointed time and place. I sent emails and texts in the days before, but heard nothing from them. I called the phone number, but there was no option to even leave a voicemail. Finally, five hours after they didn't show up they responded to my email from two days earlier claiming that they had told me the trip could not go forward as planned. I have no record of any such communication, and in any event they should have responded to my email if that were the case. An entire day of a family vacation ruined.

This tour was a great day tour to the southern part of Mexico City, seeing the Mexico City University / Azteca stadium area, visiting the Frido Kahlo Museum, stopping at the market in Coyoacán for a traditional lunch (which was very good!), spending some free time in the historic city of Coyoacán doing some shopping, and then taking a ~1 hour boat ride on the canals at Xochimilco, which was amazing to see all the boats and vendors along the river. The guide / driver did an excellent job and provided a lot of great information. The total tour duration was ~9 hours, including about 3 hours drive time between the various sites.

Excellent service Julio and Cesar, sorry for the name I forgot but the 3 make this tour stand out from the rest, which joy to share with 3 amazing people like them.
Not a bad experience per se but pretty lackluster especially when you account for the fact that this is $200/pp. Drove to the university where we parked and looked at the outside of a stadium for 5 minutes then left. Drove to Xochimilco where the canal ride was fine but relatively brief (<1 hour in an 8 hour tour). No real lecture or context from The guide on the boat ride. Drove to Coyoacan where the guide gave us maybe 10 minutes of light overview then we were left on our own for 2 hours and 15 minutes to have lunch. Not sure why we set up the tour to have more than 1/4 of it just be waiting around randomly. Then we walked on our own to the Frida Kahlo house which was amazing. Guide did not come in to the house or help us with navigating it though. You should just buy a ticket to Frida Kahlo and uber there then walk around then uber to Xochimilco. Will save you $300 for 2 people with a minimal loss of additional context and it’s not hard to figure out what to do or where to go.
