Dit is geen andere wandeltocht, maar een kleine groepsreis per privé-tuktuk en biedt onbeperkt bier en frisdrank terwijl jij en je Engelssprekende gids buiten de gebaande paden door Xi'an worden meegenomen. Je eet waar de lokale bevolking eet in kleine familiebedrijven en probeert het beste lokale eten op plaatsen die je niet alleen kunt vinden. Na 3 uur eindig je bij een lokale brouwerij om een pint te drinken van het enige ambachtelijke brouwsel in de stad.

Je ontmoet elkaar op een gemakkelijk te vinden centrale locatie en windt je een weg door de smalle straatjes en steegjes door tuktuk in de stadsmuur van Xi'an om het beste eten in de stad te vinden. We nemen je plaatsen mee waar alleen de lokale bevolking naartoe gaat. Je bestrijkt heel wat terrein en stapt buiten de gebaande paden naar familiebedrijven die je (en andere toeristen) niet alleen zult vinden. Tussen etensstops kun je chatten met je Engelstalige gids over de stad terwijl je onbeperkt gekoeld bier en frisdrank drinkt tijdens de rit.
Tijdens een bezoek aan onze 4-5 eetgelegenheden, leert u meer over de gezinnen die al generaties lang hun specialiteiten bereiden. Je ziet hoe je eten wordt gemaakt en leert wat het zo speciaal maakt voor Xian-inwoners. Of het nu zit bij een oude man die vlees over kolen grilt in een gezellige steegje in het moslim kwartier, of naar de noedels kijkt die op bestelling zijn gemaakt, er is voor ieder wat wils. De tour eindigt in de enige lokale brouwerij in Xian, waar je de faciliteit kunt bezoeken en kunt proeven wat er op de tap staat voordat we je behandelen met een pint naar keuze.

We were able to have lots of delicious food on this tour, including most of the key dishes we were looking to try in Xi’an. The experience of the tour was definitely elevated by our fantastic and friendly guide, Buren. We appreciated his knowledge of food history, and his anecdotes which added a personal touch to the places we visited. Even after the tour ended, Buren very kindly gave us some suggestions of restaurants in our upcoming cities in China - which were great suggestions! Thanks again to Buren for his food knowledge and friendly demeanour.
We booked several food tours for our recent China trip with Lost Plate Tours as we feel its a great way to experience fantastic food that we would likely have never come across otherwise. Xi'an was our first one of the trip and was definitely the best one. We appreciated the thorough communication with the Lost Plate office for inquiries and booking, along with the pre-tour communication for meeting place, etc. Our tour guide was Diehl who made a for a fun night. She's very personable and knowledgeable about city history and the restaurants that we stopped at. We liked hearing the back stories of the shop owners as we ate their wonderfully prepared and tasty food. The tuk tuks used for transport were fun to ride in going from shop to shop. Through our tuk tuk conversations with Diehl, she provided recommendations on bubble tea shops for us to visit in town and we made an impromptu stop at a fruit vendor so Diehl could help us purchase a fresh durian at local's prices. These added touches were very much appreciated and shows how great she is as a guide. Don't hesitate to book a Xi'an food tour with Lost Plate.

This is my third food tour with Lost Plate - arrive hungry!! And pace yourself for this one! hahah. Our guide was excellent, super friendly and knowledgable. She grew up in Xi'an and had lots of different stories to share.

I had already done Lost Plate's food tour in Chengdu so booking this thing was a no-brainer. Our guide was really cool and took us to places I would never be able to find on my own as a tourist. Covered all the main popular foods of Xian too.

This was an absolute pleasure! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, not only in food topics, but history and cultural facts :D We took us to hidden gems and corners that we would have never found on our own, and also gave us a few tips for the rest of our time in Xi’an. If you’re going to Xi’an, enjoy trying authentic local food (not necessarily targeted for tourists) I’d say this tour it’s a must!

Diehl was an excellent guide. The food was fantastic, the neighborhood was lively and exciting, and the beer at the end was a perfect finish to the evening. The tour winds through a maze-like network of alleys filled with countless food options, and without a guide we never would have known where to go or what to order. Every stop Diehl selected was outstanding, especially the Biang-Biang noodles, which were a highlight for us. I also had no idea Xi’an had such a great beer culture — the IPA I tried was terrific. Beyond the food itself, simply walking through the streets at night among the locals made the experience memorable. Highly recommended.
