Chennai verrast de meeste bezoekers. Deze stad van 10 miljoen mensen bevat op de een of andere manier een krokodillenbank, een nationaal park en de grootste dierentuin van India binnen haar grenzen. De Madras Crocodile Bank, opgericht door de legendarische natuurbeschermer Romulus Whitaker, herbergt meer dan 2.500 reptielen. In het Snake Venom Centre zie je hoe gif wordt gewonnen uit levende slangen om de antigifvaccins te produceren die elk jaar duizenden levens redden in heel India. Het krokodillenverrijkingsprogramma zal je manier van denken over deze dieren compleet veranderen. Vandalur Zoo is India's eerste openbare dierentuin en de grootste, verspreid over 600 hectare met meer dan 1.500 soorten, waaronder 46 op de bedreigde lijst. De nachtdieren sectie, vlinderhuis en wandeling door volière zijn de hoogtepunten. Guindy National Park ligt geheel binnen de stadsgrenzen van Chennai, waar blackbucks, jakhalzen en gevlekte herten grazen in het zicht van flatgebouwen. We gaan naar Guindy National Park, een toevluchtsoord voor het wilde leven midden in de chaos van Chennai! Het park herbergt blackbucks, jakhalzen, herten, slangen, schildpadden en vlinders. Guindy National Park speelt een cruciale rol bij het in-situ en ex-situ conserveren van het wilde leven.
Grenzend aan Guindy National Park is het Snake Park. Hier kunnen gasten 23 soorten slangen ontmoeten, 7 soorten krokodillen, 3 soorten schildpadden en 6 soorten grote Indiase hagedissen.
Chennai Crocodile park, opgezet door de vermaarde natuurbeschermer Romulus Whitaker, is een geweldige ervaring. Het park herbergt meer dan 2500 reptielen waaronder Jaws III, de beroemdste bewoner en een van India's grootste zoutwaterkrokodillen. Gasten kunnen zien is het Snake Venom-centrum waar u een demonstratie van gif extractie kunt zien die wordt gebruikt voor het maken van anti-gif vaccins. We bezoeken de Arignar Anna Zoological Gardens India's eerste openbare dierentuin in Vandalur. Verspreid over 600 hectare is deze dierentuin ook de grootste in India. Er zijn meer dan 1500 wilde soorten waaronder 46 van de bedreigde lijst. Enkele van de hoogtepunten van deze tour zijn het vlinderhuis, een wandeling door de volière, het serpentarium, het huis van de primaten en de wereld van de nachtdieren.

- De genoemde route wordt aangeboden op woensdag, donderdag, vrijdag, zaterdag en zondag. Op maandag is de Crocodile Bank gesloten en vandaar dat de route Zoo, Guindy Park en Snake Park is. Op dinsdagen zijn de dierentuin en het Guindy Park gesloten, dus we zullen Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary and Crocodile Bank doen

Excellent service and a good agenda for a day trip in Chennai. This is a good tour for families, and adults too to see a lot of different animals.
I was impressed by the attentiveness of our guide, Natarajan, and enjoyed the tour even more! I really enjoyed the Wildlife Preserve and Takhini Hot Spring tour.
Great tour of Chennai's wildlife places. The tour allows yo to do 4 places in a day easily, seeing a great variety of animals. Natarajan was a great guide, friendly and knowledgeable. Would recommend to anyone interested in animals.
Natarajan my guide was fantastic, I was driven to each park I visited by our driver who was also friendly. Natarajan briefed me before each park and the history. As a huge fan of herpetology this was fantastic seeing the snakes of India. Photo of the day was seeing a white tiger! A really excellent trip
Ganesh was awesome. He helped us navigate stores as well as get all our tickets for the days activities! We had special requests for lunch due to allergies which he gladly honored these requests. He also didn’t take us to any shops where people try to sell us stuff that we truly didn’t want. We had a special request for a special item to take home and he negotiated for us and even got us extra items to give to friends. He was truly awesome and very accommodating! I would most definitely recommend a tour with Ganesh!
Very nice trip to the zoo in Chennai. We had very nice authentic Indian lunch and also a very interesting time in the snake park.
This guided tour takes you to a zoo, an urban national park, and a reptile farm. While the city location means the animals are in captivity, one of the things you will learn from each location is that India is working to preserve it's wildlife heritage. My personal favorite was the reptile facility. Watching the workers there handle live cobras and extract venom for making antivenom was hair raising. The snakes are returned to the wild after a few draws. Meanwhile the lizard collection is unlike anything I have seen, and it was noted on one enclosure that some of these lizards are placed in the wild to help replenish endangered populations. My guide Raj was highly fluent in English, quite friendly, and took us to a restaurant that served a very tasty South Indian lunch. A day well spent.
