Beschrijving
Dit is een prachtige begeleide fietstocht van een halve dag waarmee je het verbazingwekkende kustlandschap van de Wild Atlantic Way kunt ervaren. De tour brengt je over landtongen en langs wilde stranden door het weelderige, groene Ierse platteland. Je ziet koeien grazen in de velden en gewassen zoals maïs gloeien en zwaaien in de wind. We beginnen bij het Lusitania Museum/Old Head Signal Tower met uitzicht over de Old Head Gold Links, de haven van Cork en het prachtige gebied West Cork. We fietsen langs twee stranden voordat we stoppen in een traditionele Ierse pub in het dorp Ballinspittle. Hier genieten we van een thee/koffie of frisdrank voordat we op de fiets terugkeren door een prachtiger landschap naar ons startpunt. De tocht omvat fietsen op matig heuvelachtig terrein. Het is geschikt voor koppels, groepen en gezinnen met oudere kinderen. Voor groepen kan de exacte tourroute worden afgestemd op uw behoefte. Fietsen en elektrische fietsen zijn voorzien van helm en veiligheidsvest.

Ons ontmoetingspunt! Dit is een klein museum, gehuisvest in een oude uitkijktoren. Er is een klein café en toiletten.
Al fietsend volgen we een deel van de Wild Atlantic Way, een 2.600 km lange gemarkeerde autoroute langs de kust van Ierland. Deze route is geselecteerd om de beste landschappen en culturele en historische ervaringen van het gebied te volgen.
We fietsen langs dit wilde strand en genieten vaak van het zien van mensen die zwemmen en andere watersporten beoefenen, zoals surfen en kiteboarden.
We stoppen voor een thee/koffie of frisdrank in een pub in het kleurrijke dorpje Ballinspittle. Er is een biertuin waar we bij mooi weer buiten kunnen zitten.
De resterende tijd wordt besteed aan fietsen door het landschap.
We eindigen onze tour terug waar we begonnen, bij de Old Head of Kinsale. Waarom bezoekt u niet het museum en bezoekt u het dakterras voor nog meer fantastische uitzichten over de omgeving?

We try to get out of the touristy areas and see some countryside and ebikes are a great way to do it. Ruth was a great guide taking us along some rural roads and explaining some of the local lifestyle. The bikes were well maintained, easy to use. Even though you will see some local traffic, the Irish are accustomed to safely maneuvering around walkers and bikers and Ruth was great at giving us instructions when and where we needed to pull off for traffic. Highly recommend Ruth and this bike trip.

Ruth was extremely helpful with getting our bikes booked and ready, she is so responsive to emails and was on hand on the phone when needed. The bikes were excellent quality and perfect for a cycle along the coastline - E bikes recommend for those hills ! The views were stunning and Ruth recommended the perfect route. We booked the e-bikes for three 50-something aged couples of mixed biking/athletic ability. The “pedal assist” bikes were easy to use and made the tour struggle free for everyone. I hadn’t rode a bike in 40 years, but all of my nerves dissipated minutes after I started riding. Our tour guide, Ruth, was amazing. She took us along the coast, through a forest, and along scenic back roads. Her historical and cultural knowledge of the area is unmatched. Most of all, Ruth was patient and kept us safe on the bikes and roads. Our stop at the cafe gave us time to enjoy truly delicious scones, tea and cappuccino, as well as breath taking views of beaches and the water. I highly recommend making this tour part of your itinerary if you are visiting the Kinsale area. Worth every penny, and you will feel like you accomplished some real physical activity, even though the bikes are set to do all the “work” for you if you want them to.
