Ontdek paden van de ondergrondse gangen tijdens onze reis van een halve dag, 4 uur vanuit Krakau, waar het allemaal begint. Na 30 - 40 minuten rijden komt u bij de Wieliczka-zoutmijn en neemt u deel aan de Engelse gids. De gids brengt je dichter bij de geschiedenis van de plek en laat je de belangrijkste plekken in de ondergrondse wereld zien. Een rondleiding in de Wieliczka-zoutmijn duurt meestal ongeveer 2 - 2,5 uur. Tijdens de rondleiding kun je St Kinga's Chapel bezoeken - een 54 m lange en bijna 12 m hoge kapel lijkt op het interieur van middeleeuwse houten kerken en is een echt ondergronds wonder met adembenemende kroonluchters gemaakt van zoutkristallen, ondergrondse gangen en landschappen die je niet kunt zien aan de oppervlakte zoute meren en prachtige ondergrondse kamers. Op een standaard toeristische route moet de bezoeker ongeveer 800 trappen lopen - 400 bij de ingang. Na de tour brengt onze chauffeur je terug naar Krakau.

Onze tour start met vervoer vanuit Krakau, vanaf uw opgegeven hotel of een ontmoetingspunt naar keuze. De zoutmijn bevindt zich in Wieliczka, op ongeveer 40 minuten afstand (20 km). Al onze chauffeurs beschikken over de benodigde EU-certificeringen voor personenvervoer. Een vriendelijke, Engelstalige groepsleider is beschikbaar om u te helpen wanneer dat nodig is. Ter plaatse wordt u voorgesteld aan een professionele lokale gids, die een licentie heeft van de zoutmijn. Bezoek de Wieliczka-zoutmijn, een van de topattracties van Polen die op de werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO staat. De halve dag skip-the-line tour vertrekt vanuit Krakau. Leer over de zoutmijn die de best bewaarde site van zijn soort ter wereld is. Het werd geopend in de 13e eeuw en is sindsdien continu in bedrijf. Verken enkele van de 300 kilometer aan gangen die zich uitstrekken over 9 niveaus en dieptes van 327 meter bereiken. Bekijk de kamers en kapellen in de ondergrondse stad van de mijn, waaronder de beroemde St. Kinga-kapel, die elk jaar door meer dan een miljoen toeristen uit de hele wereld wordt bezocht.
Aan het einde van de tour wordt u niet gehaast. Je hebt minstens 15 minuten pauze om een boekwinkel te bezoeken, of gewoon om uit te rusten. Na nog eens 40 minuten reizen wordt u naar Krakau gebracht.

Voor tours inclusief vervoer is de exacte ophaaltijd afhankelijk van uw accommodatieadres. U ontvangt uiterlijk één dag voor de tour een bevestiging van uw geplande pick-up. Let op: de ophaaltijd kan +/- 15 minuten afwijken van de tijd die op uw Viator voucher staat vermeld.

- Er komt een matige hoeveelheid wandelen bij kijken. De route omvat in totaal ongeveer 800 treden — je daalt af via een trap, terwijl de terugkeer naar de oppervlakte is met de lift.
- Niet aanbevolen voor deelnemers die snel claustrofobisch worden. Er zijn een aantal zeer smalle paden in de zoutmijn en dit kan moeilijk zijn voor sommigen.
- Handbagage moet van een redelijke omvang zijn en grotere bagage moet in de auto worden achtergelaten.
- Er is geen minimumleeftijd om de activiteit te ervaren, maar kinderen moeten in staat zijn om zonder hulp te lopen of in draagdoeken of draagzakken te worden gedragen. Kinderwagens zijn ondergronds niet toegestaan.
- De temperaturen in de Wieliczka-zoutmijn liggen rond de 15ºC, het wordt aanbevolen om een jas mee te nemen

A very informative trip,full of wonderful surprise and scenery
Excellent experience, picked up from our hotel, driver was on time, I was informed by the driver via WhatsApp, arrival time. He was smartly dressed, vehicle was clean and very comfortable. On arrival to Salt mines driver parked escorted us to meet the tour guide. The tour is highly recommended, plenty of information via head sets, I would definitely use Krakow Direct tours again

I want to preface this by saying I don't write reviews but hopefully this will save someone some stress. Our tour was booked for 14:30 with clear notice in the confirmation to say that the actual time would be confirmed on the day. On the day the time was confirmed as 15:30, an hour later than expected but we had been told the time could change. Our only other plan for the day was dinner reservations at 19:30 so we were fine with the delay. We thought with travel time and the tour being 2 hours and 20 minutes we would be fine to keep the reservation. The bus was on time, clean and had aircon. There was no microphone which meant any instructions given to us by the driver while he was driving could not be heard. Instructions given after the bus had stopped still couldn't be heard over the sound of the aircon. Before we got off the bus the driver came round and held up a QR code on a phone and told us to click the link. It wasn't explained that the link was to allow us to join a WhatsApp group from which we would find out where and when we could be picked up after the tour. The driver hurriedly removed his phone before I had time to join the WhatsApp group. When I asked if I could get the QR code as I was departing the bus he wouldn't show me, told us to get off the bus then closed the bus door on me. I want to be very clear that it was a family day out and I was in no way rude or threatening. We laughed about his rudeness. My wife eventually got the QR code from him as we were about to begin the tour. There were 40 of us on the tour. With another tour around a minute in front of us and another directly behind us. It was cramped. The tour guide chastised the group in front for being too slow and told those at the back of that group to hurry up and stop looking at things. During the tour the Comms were very crackly and often silent. We missed the majority of what was being said by the guide. One older lady, (on the tour by herself) politely told the tour guide that her intercom didn't work, and was curtly told it was her fault for being at the back. The lady had nowhere to go, the tunnels were narrow and she couldn't have pushed her way to the front even if she had been rude enough to do so. When the tour was complete and we were herded to the lift lobby, those first in line were taken up and all seemed fine. Those of us left waited for around 45 minutes, 135 metres underground in an enclosed space without being told why we couldn't get the lift or what was happening. Eventually the lift appeared and we finally made it out. We had booked a pizzeria in the square for 7:30 so after the lift delay we contacted them to let them know we would be late but would still make it, assuming that we would be dropped off in the same spot that we had joined the bus. The driver instead dropped us in the Jewish quarter, a 25 minute walk from where we had been picked up from. No explanation why. I asked him if there was another stop and he closed the doors in my face again.🤣 We missed our reservation. The salt mines are a great attraction, well worth seeing. The operator that took us not so much
Very unique experience, salt mines are amazing and great value for money. They were top of our list to visit and they did not disappoint
My husband and I enjoyed this tour. Very nice tour, worth experiencing. Our driver and tour guide are excellent. Get YourGuide driver Maciek was very nice and polite. Maciek was helpful providing us with restaurants where we can try good Polish food.
Excellent day out, our driver picked us up from the hotel and stayed with us until we joined a larger group to enter the mine, There was a lot of steps before we reached the bottom and a lot of walking around the mine but it was well worth it. A lot of fascinating details in the mine with a very informative tour guide. A lift took you back to the top which held 8 people but very tight I know how sardines feel now. On returning to our minibus where our driver had been waiting patiently for us returning us to our hotel. We had booked with Krakow direct in 2019 and had paid for the trips but due to unforeseen circumstances we were unable to go. With COVID and the Ukraine war we eventually got booked for this year. After contacting Krakow direct they honour what we had paid plus charge us a little bit extra for inflation. We were very grateful for this and we will use them again on our next visit.

It was a wonderful trip. Your guide was taking care of us during the whole trip and translated if necessary. He was always with us and I felt very safe. The guides of he saltmine spoke little English. The audioguide worked perfectly. And everything was in general well organized. I recommend the trip. It is a lot of walking, stairs and some longer up and downs. But manageable with a basic level of fitness.
