De Wieliczka-zoutmijn is een van de meest waardevolle en fascinerende Poolse monumenten. De eerste toeristische route in Wieliczka werd al in het begin van de 19e eeuw aangelegd. Een paar eeuwen later werd de zoutmijn aangewezen als een van de eerste UNESCO-werelderfgoedlocaties (1978). Het ondergrondse pad leidt door talrijke drijflijnen, galerijen en kamers, waar sporen van mijnactiviteit bewaard zijn gebleven, evenals voorbeelden van kunst en themacomposities met betrekking tot de geschiedenis van de mijn en zijn legendes. De tocht begint met een afdaling van 64 meter via trappen. Je wordt dan door een aantal kamers geleid en krijgt ondergrondse meren, heiligdommen en zoutmonumenten te zien. De reis eindigt op het niveau van 135 meter onder het oppervlak en de terugkeer naar het oppervlak is per lift.
St. Kinga’s Chapel is een adembenemend ondergronds heiligdom volledig uit zout gehouwen, diep gelegen in de historische Wieliczka zoutmijn. Deze buitengewone ruimte is gewijd aan Sint Kinga en beschikt over ingewikkelde zoutsculpturen, kristallen kroonluchters en gedetailleerde reliëfs met Bijbelse scènes. Zowel een plaats van aanbidding als een meesterwerk van vakmanschap, wordt de kapel beschouwd als een van de meest opmerkelijke hoogtepunten van de mijn en een symbool van eeuwenoud mijnerfgoed.

- DRESSCODE: Draag comfortabele wandelschoenen, aangezien er tijdens de tour veel gewandeld wordt. Kleed je in lagen; de temperatuur in de mijn ligt het hele jaar door rond de 14-16°C (57-61°F).
- FOTOGRAFIE: Controleer het beleid inzake fotografie; Normaal gesproken is fotografie zonder flitser toegestaan, maar voor cameragebruik kan een vergoeding in rekening worden gebracht.
- FACILITEITEN: Toiletten zijn beschikbaar voordat de tour begint en op bepaalde punten in de mijn. Er zijn vaak mogelijkheden om souvenirs en versnaperingen te kopen.
- BEPERKINGEN: Grote tassen en rugzakken zijn doorgaans niet toegestaan in de mijn; Er zijn kluisjes beschikbaar voor opslag.

Pick up was at hotel and she was on time. Tour guide/ bus driver was a nice young lady but not what I would have described as a tour guide. No need to book a lunch. Waste of time and money. It's also not clear from the description on the tour that the tickets into the salt mines aren't included. So be very aware of this Whilst we thoroughly enjoyed the salt mines, they are impressive. Well worth the trip.
Wonderful experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made the experience better. You need to pace yourself because you’ll travel down three levels in about to two hours. I don’t recommend this activity if you’re claustrophobic. You’ll travel through some tight spaces. But all in all a wonderful experience.

Overpriced Shuttle & Misleading Info – Do Not Book! ⭐☆☆☆☆Do not book this tour. They charged us full price for two seniors, completely ignoring the cheaper senior rate. To make matters worse, our tour guide actively misled us. They claimed that buying tickets directly at the site would cost 30% more. This is completely false. We checked the official ticket office at the salt mine: the prices were exactly the same, and senior discounts were readily available. This company does not provide an actual tour. They are just an overpriced shuttle service that drops you off at the salt cave. You can easily take an Uber from Krakow for about 50 PLN and save hundreds of local currency. Save your money, buy your own tickets, and avoid this rip-off.

Well worth your time to visit but would do it as a stand alone day not coupled with Auschwitz Guide was very good

Really good experience in the Salt mine but not this operator ! Was NOT clear that we had to pay for entry tickets separately. Was NOT told we would exit in a different place and would have to find our own way back to the coach.

Really good experience- very touristy though! Admission is a bit expensive and you do tend to do the tourist line shuffle. The carvings are wonderful.

The actual tour is made by the salt mines‘ tourguide and is included in the ticket price. So you mainly pay for the bus transfer and a guide buying a ticket for you. Nice if you want everything organised for you, but it could be faster and cheaper to go to the mines on the train yourself.
