Ontdek Wellington vanuit een ander perspectief tijdens een 90 minuten durende becommentarieerde havencruise aan boord van Ika Rere, de eerste volledig elektrische passagiersveerboot van het zuidelijk halfrond. Deze ontspannen cruise verkent Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington Harbour met commentaar over de maritieme geschiedenis van de stad, de havengeologie en belangrijke bezienswaardigheden. De route kan variëren, afhankelijk van de omstandigheden, waardoor de bemanning op de dag optimaal gebruik kan maken van de haven. Rustig, emissiearm en ontworpen voor sightseeing, het biedt een uniek perspectief van Wellington.

Omdat deze tour op een volledig elektrische passagiersveerboot plaatsvindt, hoeven we niet te concurreren met motorgeluid, wat betekent dat we in een rustig tempo kunnen reizen en dat u onze gidsen de hele reis gemakkelijk kunt horen. Manoeuvreer gemakkelijk rond het schip en geniet van het open bovendek of de gesloten bodemkajuit (commentaar is zowel boven als beneden te horen).

The harbour cruise was a relaxing and lovely way to orient ourselves to the city and its surrounds. The commentary was informative, and punctuated the cruise at apt intervals, the crew members were friendly, making an effort to engage with the passengers. Being able to travel on the upper deck or in the warmer, enclosed cabin gave good options, especially when sighting the local wildlife. Highly recommended!

We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday afternoon cruise around the harbour. Always fun seeing a harbour city from the water. The fully electric ferry is wonderfully quiet, making it easy to hear the commentary.

We were lucky to have a sunny, low-wind day. Hearing about the history of the harbor, how the earthquakes changed and reshaped the city was fascinating. The scenery was beautiful. But don’t forget sunscreen, even for late afternoon!
