Tijdens deze tour gaan we naar de meest populaire drijvende dorpen aan het Tonle Sap-meer. We gaan ook naar het War Museum, waar je meer te weten kunt komen over de recente tragische geschiedenis van Cambodja en de genocideperiode van Pol Pot

We rijden naar Chong Kneas, dat op slechts ongeveer 30 minuten rijden van de stad Siem Reap ligt. Onderweg gaan we een lotusboerderij bekijken waar we een hapje kunnen eten in een lokaal restaurant met hangmatten op rijstvelden en lotusboerderij. Het dorp bestaat uit honderden gezinnen die etnisch Khmer en Vietnamees zijn. Ze leven van vissen, landbouw, winkels en toerisme. Op het land zul je zien hoe de huizen op hoge palen zitten. Op het water drijven de huizen op het water. Er zijn ook winkels, een school, restaurants, viskwekerijen en een krokodillenboerderij. Er zijn ook overstroomde bossen die je kunt bezoeken. Het gebied wordt het hele jaar door bezocht.
We bezoeken het oorlogsmuseum, waar een aantal militaire voertuigen en wapens te zien zijn die tijdens de lange en bloedige burgeroorlog zijn gebruikt. Onze gids zal zijn levenservaring tijdens deze oorlog delen.
we gaan naar de Wat Thmey-pagode, de thuisbasis van de dodelijke velden van Siem Reap. Hier kun je meer te weten komen over het dodelijke Rode Khmer-regime onder Pol Pot.

We spent three weeks in Southeast Asia, and this tour is a stand out memory. Learning more about the lotus flower and its significance was interesting and fun. We also enjoyed the market and boat tour of the floating villages. We expected the War Museum and Killing Fields portion of the trip to be sombre and informative. They were both. We took the tour to further understand the historical context of current Cambodia. Throughout the day, our guide shared stories of his family and their experiences over the last 50 years. Much of the time, his stories were relevant and illustrated daily life during the war. Unfortunately, his personal biases impacted the tour significantly, as he did not acknowledge historical facts.

Very glad we booked this tour! We had a great guide in Kosal, who went above and beyond in explaining different things about Cambodia! We tried lotus seeds from a stand and toured a market (sticky rice included!) on the way to the floating villages. The villages were INCREDIBLE--a lovely boat ride to tour the lake, and a stop off to learn more (and see crocodiles, catfish, and snakes!). Afterwards was the war museum and killing fields--obviously a different tone to the second half of the tour, but incredibly valuable. Kosal was kind and informative, and we definitely left feeling we knew more about Cambodia. A great experience, with a wonderful guide!

We had an amazing time on this tour Bunpheng was a great guide, and we learned so much about the history of Cambodia. It was great to do a tour which was different from temples, the floating village was beautiful with very friendly locals and we went on a local boat. We will definitely recommend this to friends

While the museum is simplistic and you can walk around on your own, I definitely enjoyed it. My highlight was having the honor of talking to a veteran who was there. If you see him and he asks for a donation, do yourself a favor and provide it and listen to his story. An incredible man and survivor that will always stay with me.

This was a private tour just by accident, but it was awesome. Our guide took us off the beaten path when there was opportunity to. He was very knowledgeable and passionate about sharing the history of his country and his family's experiences. It was a long day full of so much information but we thoroughly enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed my private day tour! The day tour was thoughtfully planned, I got to see so many things I wanted to see in one trip! Beautiful lotus fields, local market tour, village on stilts, boat tour through the floating village, war museum tour and the killing fields museum. My guide Bunpheng and driver Honda were very kind and attentive. Bunpheng clearly knows his history, I left the tour with a much better understanding of the history of Cambodia! It was a very enjoyable day and I was glad to have a guide with me to provide more context the whole way!I recommend giving this tour a try
