Het dateert uit het einde van de 12e eeuw en is getekend door het verstrijken van de tijd, waarbij sporen van de oude Romeinse stad Sellium bewaard zijn gebleven. Pantheon van de Tempeliers in Portugal
De belangrijkste kerk van de stad. Het dateert uit het begin van de 13e eeuw, hoewel wat we vandaag kunnen zien dateert uit de late 15e eeuw (manuelijnse invloed). Hier konden we de klokkentoren beklimmen en genieten van een geweldig uitzicht
In het midden van de oude middeleeuwse Joodse wijk vind je de synagoge, die wordt beschouwd als de oudste van Portugal (1e helft 15e eeuw), omdat hij uit het niets werd opgebouwd en nooit volledig werd vernietigd door de inquisitie - hij nam alleen verschillende functies aan, waarvan vandaag de dag nog steeds sporen te zien zijn.
Dit kleine museum is gewijd aan hedendaagse kunst en laat ons de geboorte zien van de surrealistische stroming in Portugal (werken van Júlio Pomar en Mário Cesarinny, bijvoorbeeld). Het is te danken aan de gulle gift van de persoonlijke nalatenschap van José-Augusto França, de eerste Portugese kunsthistoricus - van Tomé.

Dit is waar de relatie tussen de Orde van de Tempeliers en de Orde van Christus zal worden begrepen. Een onderdompeling in het middeleeuwse kloosterleven en alle symboliek die, of we het nu leuk vinden of niet, gehuld zal blijven in mysterie en raadsels.

Had a great day with Monica who is really pulling out all the stops for the best experience. As a true local, she knows Tomar like the back of her hand and as a graduate historian she knows every symbol you ask a question about. If you're still hesitating between an audio tour and this tour, don't hesitate any longer, it's worth it!
