Op het eerste gezicht zou je kunnen denken dat de stad Aegina bescheiden is, maar met onze fascinerende en onthullende wandeltocht zul je veel indrukwekkende feiten ontdekken over deze prachtige en charmante stad die al sinds het Neolithicum wordt bewoond! We ontmoeten elkaar in de kleine historische kerk van Aegina, gewijd aan Sinterklaas, de beschermheilige van Griekenland voor zeelieden. Wandel door schaduwrijke en pittoreske straatjes langs een plaatselijke galerie, boetiek, antiekwinkels, een lokale olijfolieleverancier en lokale ambachtswerkplaatsen. Ontdek historische bezienswaardigheden, zoals de Toren van Markello, het huis van de hedendaagse eerste gouverneur van Griekenland, Ioannis Kapodistrias, die veel positieve invloed had op Aegina, en luister naar het fascinerende verhaal van Aegina's prachtig gebouwde stenen weeshuis. We komen tot rust en ontspannen met een typisch Griekse koffie in een traditioneel kafenion, terwijl we genieten van een geweldig uitzicht op de haven van Aegina!

Ontmoet elkaar in de kleine monumentale kerk van Aegina, gewijd aan Sint Nicolaas, de beschermheilige van zeelieden in Griekenland.
Ontdek historische bezienswaardigheden zoals de toren van Markellos (gebouwd in 1802) ook wel bekend als "The Pink Tower". De toren werd in 1826 gehuisvest door de regering van Kapodistrias, hij was de eerste gouverneur van het hedendaagse Griekenland. Ontdek de grote impact die hij had op Aegina, evenals op Griekenland. The waking tour was amazing. We walked around the center of Aegina town and while we were seeing different great buildings and areas of the old town we learned a lot of fascinating insights. Out tour guide Eleni was very friendly and had a lot of deeper inside knowledge about the history of Aegina. There is also a Greek coffee included in the price. ;) On top Kiki helped me to organize an amazing, individual itinerary for me during my stay on Aegina. I loved all of it. Our tour guide, Sarah, was an absolute delight. We were having trouble locating the meeting point at the gate of Aegina and she accommodated us at a different spot. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and a blessing to meet. She knew many locals we came across and provided tips on the best places to shop and dine. I would highly recommend taking this tour on your first day in town instead of your last like we did. It's a beautiful island with lots of history to learn.
Our guide revealed the historical buildings and the port history and also recent discoveries, which indicated the importance of the port. Great insight into the town and local history, even met local artist who specialises in religious paintings.
It is essential to get up early to catch the first ferry and rent a car or motorcycle, the distances are long. Lots of variety of restaurants

I was pleasantly surprised by this great walking tour! The history of Aegina is fascinating and I learned so much whilst we explored and meandered down the streets with local highlights. Loved it and would never have found all the sights by myself and you can't get the same experience from a book! The Greek mezze at the end was a perfect ending to the tour. Well done. I loved To go places In Aegina where I would have never found by myself. I got familiar not only with flora and fauna of the Island but also history of the Island. In addiktion, I got tips of the restsurants, antique shops, beaches and of course, pistachio.
