Do not hesitate to do this tour or any other tour with Funtastic Azores. Paulo is so knowledgable, and has the desire to share so much with you. It feels like he had 3 lifes to study and know this much. It was the best tour we've had in the azores (we did 2 with other companies). The only downside is that we couldnt do more tours with him as he was already booked. So don't hesitate and book all the tours you can in advance with him ! Thank you so much Paulo - Bye from France

Paulo delivered an awesome customized tour over four days to my husband and I. We thoroughly enjoyed Lagoa do Fogo, Furnas, Sete Cidades, and the last day, a wonderful meal slow cooked by the steam from the fumarolic field underground, and an intriguing tour of a tea farm where we learned about how teas are grown, harvested, and cured. There so much good to say, my words will fall short in describing how wonderful Paulo made us feel. Each time we hiked, Paulo provided us with an overview of what to expect from the route to what we’d see. He is gracious, kind, professional, safe, takes pride in his work, and truly is concerned about guest satisfaction. Further, Paulo knows Sao Miguel’s diverse ecosystems taking the time to explain the various fauna, floras, volcanos, and so much more. We highly recommend Paulo and hope one day to return to learn more from Paulo. Very enjoyable!

The excursion to Sete Cidades was fantastic. But the fact is that the day dawned cloudy and very foggy, it seemed that we had no luck choosing the date. However, Paulo (the guide) reviewed the weather and proposed a number of changes to the tour, to begin the tour later and aim to enjoy it better, as it was likely that after a few hours this fog would lift and the clouds would leave. Their recommendations and proposals fulfilled their function: we ended up enjoying Sete Cidades, because the weather improved and we even knew places not planned in the beginning. It proved a success.

Paulo is an excellent guide. He’s very knowledgeable and fun and flexible with scheduling activities. Our family of 6 ranging in ages from 5 to 69 all enjoyed the 2 days we spent with him last week. I highly recommend these tours.

Paulo is an excellent guide! He went above and beyond to provide us a private guide to Sete Cidades and Furnas. We loved his passion for the history of the islands and would highly recommend any tour with him.

As I was originally planning to travel to São Miguel for Easter on my own, I had contacted Paulo at FUNtastic Azores tours to organise a couple of excursions. Paulo was incredibly helpful and responsive - and he was the one who contacted me to cancel the tours due to last minute Covid restrictions. Thanks to him, I managed to postpone my trip by a few months, and ended up travelling a few months later with a friend. During the 4 days that we spent in São Miguel, we went on 3 tours arranged by FUNtastic Azores tours: the full day walking tour around Sete Cidades with picnic; the full walking tour around the Furnas volcano; and the evening tour at Furnas, with local dinner followed by hot springs. Each of these tours was uniquely superb - not only due to the beauty of the landscape but also thanks the attention and care that our guide Paulo provided to us from the moment he picked us up to the moment he dropped us back at our hotel. I even asked if we could add a couple of stops to go visit the pineapple and tea plantations (which were not originally planned in the tours) and Paulo seamlessly incorporated those to the route, sharing a lot of interesting information about each place (so much so that I started taking notes on my phone!). In summary, I strongly recommend FUNtastic Azores tours to anyone who is interested to have a relaxed, active (or not!) and interesting stay in São Miguel.

Special days in San Miguel with my wife: lots of nature, history and good food. All I have to do is thank Paul for guiding us through the island, highlighting the property with which he presented us with every detail along the way - in the cart or on foot, his sympathy and passion for work. I can say that we enjoy and know a lot more about São Miguel and its magic thanks to Paulo and FUNtastic Azores Tours. I recommend!

Friendly and informative guide clearly knows a lot about both flora, fauna and history of the Azores, overall a very nice experience.
