I had an amazing time on this hiking tour with Omar, he’s a fantastic guide. Since he’s local to the area, he has a real connection to the community and shared great insight throughout the experience. The hike itself was about 3.5 hours long. I joined a group with two other young couples, and the group size felt really comfortable. Overall, it’s a relatively easy hike, though the elevation can definitely be felt at times. Transportation is included. Just make sure to bring your own water and snacks. I’d also recommend packing a lunch, since there’s time to relax and eat at the top near Heaven’s Gate. One helpful tip: bring some pesos for the bathrooms before and after the hike, about 10 pesos each. Omar built in plenty of short breaks so everyone could catch their breath, and he also made time for photos at the scenic viewpoints along the way. The tour was also very LGBTQIA+ friendly, which made me feel especially comfortable. Overall, this is a highlight of my trip.
An experience worth living at least once in a lifetime, the views are amazing for me a dream, excellent to connect with nature, and the guide Omar an excellent person recommended 100%
The Adventure starts early at 8am at a convenient spot near Roma Norte where you meet your super-guide Omar. From there our group of 4 loaded into Omars vehicle and headed to the mountains which are about 40min. away. Even though you are technically in CDMX, it is a whole different world. Upon arrival Omar provided us with backpacks containing a helmet, safety harness and water and explained in detail how to properly use the safety equipment. The trail is quite steep and rocky with an area which requires you to climb a long steel ladder up a cliff. Omar is watching your every step to make sure there is no danger to your safety. The climb reveals several breath taking view points at which we stopped to eat lunch (bring your own food and snacks) from there we descended down a different trail where we ran into cows randomly grazing in the forest and a beautiful river with stunning waterfalls. The hike is a few hours long depending on the groups pace and is a great workout and exciting experience for those who are feeling adventurous but don’t have time to climb an entire volcano. I highly recommend this tour!!!
Omar was incredibly polite and fun. We had a lot of fun and the views were great. At the end we had some great food too. We want to comeback again!
Omar is a brilliant guide. Very knowledgeable and a great conversationalist. He kindly took me on the hike with pick up/drop off from cdmx even though i was the only person booked on the hike. The hike itself is very varied with lots of different elements (ladder climbing, cave exploring and river crossing). Skill level needed is intermediate with small parts that are more challenging due to the altitude but Omar is aware of this and has planned short breaks throughout the trek. Would definitely recommend as a great way to spend the first part of your day and as an escape from the business of the city.
This experience was amazing. The hike was beautiful and the guide friendly and knowledgeable. He did a great job of making sure I was safe. This hike is definitely intermediate. Make sure to wear appropriate clothing and footwear! Would do agian and would highly recommend.
Pick up from the fountain was smooth. It is about a 45 minute drive to the beginning of the trail. The trail was challenging in the beginning, but rewarding. The ladder and viewpoints were amazing. The guide, Omar, was amazing, kind, and funny. This was my second hike in Mexico City and this was the best.
Omar is really great! Although I was the only one who signed up, we still went and I really enjoyed it. Omar is really kind and you can see he really enjoys this part of Mexico. The perfect hike if you want a nice view and be back at lunch!
The hike included stopping at two beautiful viewing points, walking through a cave, and stopping at a small stream and waterfall. There is a ladder where you use climbing equipment and go up about 100 feet. The viewpoints are breathtaking and going up the ladder is also very exciting. Omar was my tour guide and was very conversational and also stopped at a nice local spot to pick up lunch for the hike. He was also very good with going at a pace that works for you, guiding the use of climbing equipment, and taking pictures for you. Highly recommend!
Best guide you could ask for! He was very accommodating and knowledgeable- he has a background in geology. We had a lot of fun, learnt a lot about the geology of Mexico, and enjoyed the natural environment. Though the track was initially very steep, we took ample breaks so it wasn’t very hard.
