This was such a disappointing day. They were 30 min late to meet us at the docks and never reached out, we had to reach out and were not given a time to expect them, just a " they're on their way" Because they were late we were rushed onto the boat, we were told they had water onboard and we were off. There were 14 people on the boat including the two crew, so with Tahiti's regulations, only 6 guests at a time are allowed to swim. "Shared" tour seems to mean that you have to share the opportunity to swim, but that you get to observe from the boat for half the for the time, for the same price as being a swimming only guest on another tour. We spent a good amount of time looking for whales, we eventually saw one from afar. If you've ever been whale watching in Hawaii in the winter/spring, you'll be very disappointed with this. We drove back and forth while they stopped to talk to other boats, but didn't see anything else. A child needed the restroom so his parents were directed to either have him pee off the boat, or jump in and "use the restroom." At that time several of us decided to also "use the restroom." We were allowed about 10 minutes and then were hurried back onto the boat under the guise of continuing our tour. However, I asked the guide outright, is it too early in the season to swim with whales and he admitted yes, that they never see anything the first two weeks of the season. Which begs the question: isn't it then predatory to sell the whale swimming this early, knowing it is unlikely to happen? The text in the ad says it is a possibility, not guaranteed, but then why post the photos of people swimming with the whales? I feel like they could be more open about that, everyone on the boat was disappointed and that is a very expensive maybe. To make matters worse, they decided to take us back an hour early as "it wasn't going to happen today.'' They then completely disengaged from us as guests, and sped through the lagoon at a speed that didn't allow conversation. I was looking for water and opened a cooler, didn't see water only untouched snacks, and since we weren't offered any, I assumed it was crew lunch and quickly shut the cooler. Had they used that time and took us to a nice area to swim, or offered us snacks and perhaps whale education, this trip could've been salvaged. They didn't try and they didn't care. I contacted the company to complain and request a partial refund as they did not uphold their side of the contract. They told me their operator refuted everything I said, that we were offered water and snacks, we were not. That we were invited to snorkel, we were not. and that we came back in at the appointed time. We did not. They offered a discount to come back again, I replied back and refuted his claims. They did not respond again. My opinion is that if you cannot count on an operator to uphold their part of a contract, or to tell the truth about an excursion, you cannot trust them with your safety. Choose someone else.

Horrible experience. Changed the time from 1pm to 7am only notified by email in a different language. then bothered to call me at 7 AM and tell Mimis that I was late and they weren't gonna wait for me. Would one phone call could've changed everything and then they didn't even refund my money.

We did the whale trip on October 20th with Tamatoa and it was exceptional. My son and I were able to swim near a calf and his mom, while respecting nature. Tamatoa is so interesting and knows everything about whales, it was very appreciative. The fruit snorkeling break was great, and the captain was great. Thank you very much for this magical moment. I recommend ++++++

We did the whale watching trip with another couple. Found whales within the first hour. The captain put the boat in position so we were able to view close-up on three occasions. The captain and first mate were both very knowledgeable and friendly. We speak English and the other couple spoke French. The captain took the time to make sure we all were informed of what what to expect and how to interact with the marine life. Because we saw the whales so early in our excursion, we spent the last two hours snorkeling.

We went swimming with the humpbacks and it was the highlight of our trip! We had an amazing 3 week trip that ended with this last excursion - we were able to swim with a Momma and baby whale and spend time watching them breach, swim, disappear and come back. Our guide and driver were great and made sure everyone who wanted got time with the whales and then shared a video with us so we could share with others. Our last stop was for some delicious local fruit - and a beer, fun way to end the day

Outstanding, knowledgeable guide - he was able to predict when the whales would surface, then the six of us left our boat 300ft away and swam fast to get close. Fantastic experience. (He actually assisted our swimming by pulling us on a rope attached to a buoy - so strong!). The whale was underneath us then surfaced right next to us. Unbelievable! Highly recommend Tahiti by Boat.

I had a magical moment! An unforgettable experience with the whale and its calf that came to the surface right next to us. A great, caring and passionate team — I recommend them 100%!

We dod a half day snorkelling trip with Tamatoa and Israel, what an experience!! We swam with mother and baby whales and heard their song. Just the most amazing experience!

Boat and crew were first rate. Very friendly and professional. Equipment was excellent. Can’t give 5 stars when a whale watching excursion turns into a four hour boat ride. Seeing no whales. But that’s not the crew’s fault.

I had an absolutely exceptional whale trip this weekend with Tahiti by boat. We had the chance to launch with mom and her calf. We were also treated to a great dolphin show at the beginning of the excursion! To top it off, we enjoyed a small snack of fresh local fruit and juice on the lagoon. I recommend! Thanks again to the crew who were great throughout this excursion ☺️
