De ommuurde stad en de wijk Getsemani zijn een must-see in de stad en de beste manier om kennis te maken is door deze gratis wandeltocht te maken. Sluit je dus aan bij onze vriendelijke lokale gids en een groep leuke reizigers op Plaza de la Aduana (naast het stadhuis). Loop door de hoofdstraten en ontdek het fascinerende contrast tussen de geschiedenis en de jeugdige geest waar de plaats bekend om staat. Je begint door de koloniale en kleurrijke huizen te slenteren terwijl je meer weet over de belangrijkste pleinen en bastions die ons pad naar onafhankelijkheid hebben gevolgd. Bezoek het plein en de kerk van Santo Domingo, de kathedraal van Santa Catalina de Alejandria (Sint-Catharina van Alexandrië), onder andere van groot cultureel belang.
Daarna ga je naar de wijk Getsemani, die weet dat je een Boheemse geest hebt. De straten en steegjes hebben kleuren en de levendige, vriendelijke en charismatische geest van de lokale bevolking die zich buiten hun huizen verzamelt en iedereen verwelkomt die langsloopt. Wandel door pittoreske stukjes straatkunstschilderijen langs enkele van de belangrijkste straten Calle de la Sierpe, Calle San Juan, Calle de la Media Luna, Calle Larga, onder anderen. Je krijgt enkele van de beste graffiti-auteurs te zien. Dit zou natuurlijk niet de perfecte tour zijn zonder de smaken van Colombia te proeven, dus je zult typisch Colombiaanse bieren en zoetigheden hebben. We weten dat je uiteindelijk meer wilt ontdekken van Cartagena, onze "heldhaftige" stad: een stad die iedereen verwelkomt.

Our tour guide, Carlos was very respectful, understanding, informative, accommodating, welcoming and friendly. He spoke both English and Spanish which made learning about the city’s cultural and historic context much easier. This tour was a nice way to get some more information about the city and become more comfortable with it! I would definitely recommend doing this one specifically especially because of its affordable price.

Recommend this tour, Legaxy our guide was great and made the experience fun and he has a lot of knowledge and enthusiasm which helped us get through the 2.5 hour tour in the hot Cartagena sun! He made sure to have our breaks in the shade, we also got to do a mini dance lesson and try some snacks. All in all a great introduction to the history of Cartagena and Getsemaní and to orient yourself for the rest of the trip in the area.

Rafael took us on a very enjoyable and informative walk around the old centre and Getsemaní. He had a great way of communicating his knowledge of the history of the city, both for us as adults and our teenage daughters who also really enjoyed themselves.
