Vanaf de eerste stap van je begeleide avontuur zal ik fascinerende verhalen delen over de geschiedenis, cultuur, architectuur en persoonlijkheden van San Antonio, inclusief het achtergrondverhaal van de Riverwalk, een hotel dat door de straten van de stad werd gesleept, een ander dat de kamers liet optillen en op elkaar stapelen, en ik zal vertellen wat er gebeurde tijdens het beleg en de slag om de Alamo in 1836. Zo is er de Tower of the Americas, de kathedraal van San Fernando, onze Lovelock Bridge, het meest spookachtige hotel in San Antonio, het schilderachtige Arneson River Theater en Marriage Island, waar jaarlijks meer dan 300 koppels de knoop doorhakken. Neem je foto op de beroemde Selinabrug. Hoor hoe Johnny Cash, Rudolph Valentino, Carol Burnett, Phil Collins, Babe Ruth, Davy Crockett en koningin Elizabeth II allemaal verbonden zijn met de stad. Luister naar het verhaal van de belegering en slag om de Alamo, wat er gebeurde en waarom we ons dat vandaag herinneren. Je staat voor dit wereldberoemde nationale historische monument. Dit is geen tour door de Alamo.
Dit is het symbool van de Wereldtentoonstelling, bekend als "Hemisfair", die in 1968 in San Antonio werd gehouden. Ruim 6 miljoen mensen bezochten de stad om de Wereldtentoonstelling te ervaren. Met een hoogte van 750 meter torent hij uit boven de skyline van de stad.
Wandel tussen de torenhoge cipressen en luister naar de geschiedenis van de historische Riverwalk. Maak een foto op de beroemde Selena Bridge, bezoek Marriage Island, het schattige Arneson River Theatre en zoveel andere hoogtepunten van de Riverwalk.
Dit openluchttheater, gebouwd in 1940, ligt aan de San Antonio Riverwalk en is het toneel van rivierparades, entertainment... en films. Hier bevindt zich ook de prachtige Rosita-brug.
Dit torenhoge beeldhouwwerk is een icoon van San Antonio. Het was een geschenk aan de stad om de vriendschap tussen drie naties te tonen. Ontworpen door Sebastian, arriveerde dit 65 meter hoge beeldhouwwerk in 2002 in de stad.
Luister naar de fascinerende geschiedenis en het mysterie van het meest spookachtige hotel van San Antonio... en de beroemde beroemdheden die daar hebben verbleven.
Het is een van de oudste kathedralen in de Verenigde Staten en dateert uit het begin van de 18e eeuw. Paus Johannes Paulus II bezocht de kathedraal tijdens zijn bezoek aan San Antonio, en Jim Bowie trouwde daar.
Het is de oudste taverne aan de Riverwalk en werd geopend in 1933. Behalve dat het de perfecte plek is om "mensen te kijken" op de Riverwalk, beschikt het ook over een met bier doordrenkte houten bar van 30 meter lang.
Waarschijnlijk het meest geliefde gebouw in San Antonio, en de Richardsoniaanse romaanse architectuur heeft een unieke bijenkorfkoepel. Luister naar het verhaal van hoe het tot stand kwam... en waarom het elk jaar op één speciale dag erg populair is.
Bekijk het iconische restaurant aan de rivier met de kleurrijke parasols. Het is het eerste restaurant dat aan de Riverwalk werd geopend en dateert uit 1946. Een geweldige plek om ook van wandelende mariachis te genieten.

This is one of the best city tours I’ve been on. Stewart, the tour guide is very knowledgeable, professional, friendly and most importantly very respectful to everyone in our tour group. He provided a great overview of downtown San Antonio and a comprehensive history of the river walk. I highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic guide, informative & comprehensive tour of the downtown area. A must-do for visitors to the city! Stewart was amazing as our tour guide. We have been to San Antonio a handful of times and have enjoyed seeing many sights of the city. Stewart took this visit to the next level with his fun and informative tour. We learned things about The Alamo, Riverwalk, and various other stops along our route that we had never heard before! Our family was a group of 8; our youngest child was 3 and oldest 16. All our kids enjoyed this activity and though I was a bit apprehensive about taking a stroller for our 3 and 4 yr olds due to many stairs along the Riverwalk; we brought small very lightweight foldable umbrella strollers along that quickly fold up (actually we didn’t even bother to fold them, just simply carried the strollers up a flight of stairs or two) and it worked beautifully. Our littles jumped right in/out of their stroller and it saved their legs from being tired. Stewart was patient and understanding to adjust to our kiddos needs and it was much appreciated. Book this tour, you will not be disappointed. Whether it’s your first visit to the city or you’ve been several times I almost guarantee you’ll learn something new and have a great time doing so!

Our walking tour was led by Stewart, who is surprisingly an Aussie, that has been living in San Antonio for the past 25 years and has a passion and enthusiasm for the city's history. He made the tour fun and interesting and we learned a lot about the city through his guidance. Stewart’s walking tour was absolutely fantastic! He is highly engaging, funny and so knowledgeable about San Antonio and is continuously learning more to add to his tour.
