Montmartre wordt vaak herinnerd door de mannen die hier schilderden, schreven, dronken en optraden. Maar achter dit beroemde beeld zitten de vrouwen die ook de wijk hebben gecreëerd, uitgedaagd en getransformeerd. Deze wandeltocht volgt de vrouwen van Montmartre : kunstenaars, rebellen en culturele figuren, die de creatieve identiteit van de wijk hebben helpen vormgeven, vaak zonder dezelfde erkenning te krijgen als hun mannelijke tegenhangers. Maar HERA gaat niet alleen over het verleden. Onderweg ontdekken we ook hoe vrouwen Montmartre vandaag de dag vormgeven door middel van onafhankelijke bedrijven, creatieve projecten en culturele ruimtes. Deze wandeling verbindt verborgen geschiedenissen met de levende buurt : verhalen over ambitie, vrijheid, veerkracht en transformatie, tegen de achtergrond van een van de meest iconische en inspirerende wijken van Parijs.

This tour was so wonderful! Great way to see and learn about montmartre with a focus on the women who have contributed so much to the history of the area. Orla was lovely and gave other great recommendations for our time in Paris. Highly recommend!!

Orla provided our small group with a wonderful experience. The tour was informative, enlightening, and inspiring. She shared her knowledge and love for Montmartre (and its historical and current denizens). She showed us the sights and gave us the stories behind many of Montmartre’s more well known characters. As Orla put it, she was not erasing the known history, but expanding the frame to get the full picture. Orla was also very accommodating of one member of our group who had mobility issues. At the end of the tour, we asked Orla to recommend a Montmartre cafe to get comestibles and wine. Her recommendation was spot on. Thank you for a most enjoyable time.
Out of all the tours we did on our recent trip to Europe, this was one of the very best. Orla has a natural talent for guiding guests through a very informative and enjoyable walking tour. We loved the unique perspective highlighting women’s roles in the incredibly rich history of Montmartre. Her goal wasn’t to tell a different story than has been told in the past. Her goal is to tell the whole story. And that story cannot be complete without talking about the notable women who are part of the history. I highly recommend it.

I'd absolutely recommend this tour! It was comprehensive, insightful and really bought Montmartre to life. I've lived in Paris for years but discovered new hidden gems and stories thanks to Orla. The pace was relaxed (with a lovely coffee break in the middle!) which gave plenty of time to take photos and chat with others on the tour between stops. Orla was a knowledgable guide and clearly passionate about giving a voice to women's stories. Whether you're a tourist or live in the neighbourhood, it's the perfect way to spend a morning.
