Maak een ritje op de traditionele Bamboo Train, een bamboeplatform dat over twee sets wielen op een enkel spoor is gelegd. Vroeger werd dit gebruikt om goederen te vervoeren tussen Battambang en Phnom Penh en was het een typisch vervoermiddel voor boeren en dorpelingen. Vandaag neemt het je mee door het prachtige landschap naar een klein dorpje dat je te voet kunt verkennen voordat je terugkeert naar je startpunt.
Beklim de 365 trappen om Wat Banan te bewonderen, een tempel uit het Angkor-tijdperk die bovenop een heuvel in de buurt van de rivier de Sanker ligt. Banan wordt zelden bezocht door toeristen en buiten Cambodjaanse feestdagen is het waarschijnlijk dat je de enige bezoeker bent.
Beklim de zijkant van een berg die leidt naar de 'geheime vleermuisgrot' net voor zonsondergang, waar je bovenop de berg zit te wachten tot de miljoenen vleermuizen in de grot wakker zijn. Verwonder je terwijl deze schijnbaar nooit eindigende stroom fruitvleermuizen de grot uit vliegt naar het platteland voor hun avondmaaltijd.
De vleermuizengrot biedt elke dag rond 17.00 uur een geweldig schouwspel - duizenden vleermuizen verlaten hun grot als de schemering valt en beginnen aan hun nachtelijke jacht. Een zwarte streep strekte zich uit over de lucht, trillend met geluidsgolven, voordat hij zich verspreidde aan de horizon, verlicht door sterrenlicht. Een gestage stroom die ongeveer 45 minuten uitvliegt en dan terug naar hun grotten.

My guide Han made this day such a special trip. He is so insightful and shares his stories and knowledge of Battambang. He also shares so many little extra stops that are so interesting. The one thing I will mention is that you will be exhausted at the end of the day.
Great day trip from Siem Reap to Battambang. Excursion taken from GetYourGuide. Very comfortable private van journey ( Angkor focus travel ) with excellent driver (6 hours round trip ) through the company ( paddy fields ) , villages with special features, unique colors and flavors etc . Appreciate stops for sweet snacks and local lunch. Our super cute, knowledgeable guide Mr HANAOUN explained the terrible history of the Khmer Rouge and not just many local anecdotes. Fun experience on the bamboo train with hand shift to make the real train pass. Absolutely recommended.

Fun trip full of activities and catered to all of our needs. Many activities that were organised well with a friendly tour guide and driver.
We were only in Cambodia for 2 days so we wanted to see as much as possible. Mr Han showed us a lot in the area of Battambang and we were able to try local food and fruit. The temples were beautiful, and aside from the highlighted landmarks we made a few more small stops along the way. If you want to get the most out of your day in Battambang you should do this tour!
What an incredible tour, everything was very organised and laid back. A full day tour might seem daunting but it is very much worth it. Ask to have Mr Han, he is incredibly knowledgeable and very passionate about the history and cambodian culture. He shares his own personal stories from the communist pol pot period and offers insight as to what it was like to live during that dark period in Cambodian history. The tour takes you across the cambodian countryside, up mountains and temples. it truly was an amazing experience and well worth setting aside a day to do. Being a private tour you learn alot more about many aspects of cambodian culture and history that wouldn't learn in a big group. I cannot recommend this tour enough.

Han was a phenomenal Guide for our holiday, he didn't just take us to tourist places but he made us discover the local culture taking us to families to see how various products were made. Always very kind and helpful also offered us The tasting of various foods always with great attention and friendliness. He told us the story of his country and its history which struck us deeply and left us speechless. A very attentive and professional person but also friendly and friendly.
