De excursie begint wanneer we u ophalen in onze minibus met chauffeur en een professionele gids, om naar Los Glaciares National Park te gaan. Tijdens een reis van bijna 80 km tot we het park bereiken, zullen we genieten van het prachtige landschap van Patagonië dat ons beschildert met bergen, meren en bossen. Al in het Los Glaciars National Park observeer je de meest karakteristieke soorten van de Patagonische bossen. We komen aan bij de loopbruggen van de Perito Moreno-gletsjer, waar we tot 5,5 km aan loopbruggen kunnen lopen op verschillende niveaus en locaties die ons een uniek perspectief geven op alle hoeken van de blauw-witte majesteit van de gletsjer. We hebben tijd om te lunchen in een van de restaurants in het park. Eindelijk, laat in de middag, keren we terug naar El Calafate.

Perito Moreno Glacier is truly awesome. You can't miss it on a trip to El Calafate. The tour picked up on time and spent three hours in the park. It was enough time to go on the one hour boat, eat lunch, and walk on the elevated walkways.

The tour was vey good. I was the only English speaking passenger but our guide was very patient and explained everything in English. The optional boat ride was fun, but if you do not have mobility issues, I suggest you just hike the same portion of the glacier that the boat navigates to. The photos of the boat tour are not too accurate because it looks like the boat really gets close to the glacier, but it does not. It is still a distance away but you can always zoom in. Spectacular! I liked the yellow portion of the walkway, got to see another side of the glacier. We had a wonderful Guide, Rebecca, and great driver, Lucas.

The glacier is at a national park which you have to pay to enter. There is several stops. The first one you’re getting on the boat to see the glacier. Then the second stop is a walk that you could take pictures with the glacier behind you. This last stop has a restaurant and convenience store.

Nothing can prepare you for the sight of the Glacier. It is truly inspiring. Nicholas our guide was able to explain the geology of the region and explain what we were seeing and hearing! Really appreciate both the time on the walkways and the boat. It gave us time to take it all in.

Pick up was on time. Guide was friendly and helpful and gave us information on the way to the glacier. I didn’t do the boat trip but choose to walk a long the platforms. We were given the time and place to meet for the return journey. An efficient and stress free way to go to the glacier since the public bus station isn’t in the town centre.

The tour was good, quiet, the guide explained everything that was necessary. The time was also appropriate. I think the possibility of renting a car and going on your own would be even better.

The itinerary was completely different to the day. The night before I was messaged asking if I wanted to do the boat trip to the glacier. This was an option but wasn’t mentioned at all on my itinerary. My itinerary also stated that we had lunch at a restaurant which would cost about $30. The guide had no idea about that. I was glad actually that we didn’t do that and took my own packed lunch. Once we got to the park we had a chance to have a cuppa and use the facilities. The place was absolutely packed and more and more coaches kept coming. Those are the bad points. The good was that there were excellent wslkways that afforded lots of different views of the glacier, which was stunning. I spent at least 3 hours walking them. Most people took the boat and probably then didn’t walk, so it was less busy on the walkways. The boat was quite expensive and while it would have given a good perspective of the size of the glacier it took up to 200 people. I enjoyed my day.

Regarding the information you mentioned: • The boat navigation is an optional service that some platforms do not list in detail on their generic itineraries, which is why it was offered the day before, once operational confirmation was available. • Regarding lunch, the tour does not include a restaurant meal. The reference price shown in the itinerary is simply to give travelers an idea of the approximate cost on site, since availability inside the park can vary by season. Bringing your own packed lunch, as you did, is absolutely possible and many travelers prefer that option. Perito Moreno is one of the most iconic attractions in Patagonia, and on certain dates it receives a very high number of visitors. Even so, the walkways allow each traveler to explore at their own pace, and it’s great to know you were able to enjoy them for several hours. They forgot our reservation and no one came looking for us. After complaining by phone we were picked up 45 minutes late in a taxi car, without offering any explanation or apology from Viator or the Enterprise. Still waiting for explanation, apology or compensation.
