Deze seizoensgebonden vogelobservatie-ervaring (januari-juli) vindt plaats in het Curicancha-reservaat, een van de toplocaties in Monteverde om de Schitterende Quetzal in zijn natuurlijke habitat in het nevelwoud te observeren. De tour is zorgvuldig ontworpen door een gespecialiseerde lokale naturalistische Gids, waarbij zorgvuldig geselecteerde paden en timing worden gebruikt om de wilde activiteiten te maximaliseren en de kans op het spotten van quetzals en 30-40 vogelsoorten tijdens een enkele wandeling te vergroten. De tour wordt uitgevoerd in kleine groepen voor een meer persoonlijke en meeslepende ervaring en is ideaal voor vogelspotten, fotografie en leren. Een high-definition spotting scope is inbegrepen, waardoor gedetailleerde close-up beelden van vogels en wilde dieren die anders moeilijk te zien zou zijn mogelijk zijn. Dit is meer dan een wandeling – het is een gerichte, educatieve wildlife-ervaring in een van de meest iconische ecosystemen van Costa Rica.

We toured with Olger Villegas and he was amazing! Very funny and very informative. We saw pit vipers, toucan nests, humming birds and many other birds. Would highly recommend!

We loved the birdwatching tour at the Curicancha Reserve. It is an impressive way to connect with nature and discover the incredible biodiversity of the area. Our guide, Roy, had extensive knowledge about the birds we observed, their behavior, sounds, and the best areas of the reserve to find them. Additionally, he made the experience very enjoyable and interesting. It was our first time birdwatching, and it exceeded all our expectations. We were lucky to observe rainbow-billed toucans, emerald toucans, bellbirds, crested guans, striped-headed wrens, orange-bellied trogons, a sharp-billed hermit, different types of hummingbirds, and other bird species. As if that were not enough, we also saw an armadillo. It was an unforgettable experience, and we would definitely like to repeat it in the future.

We had an excellent experience at Curicancha Reserve with our guide, Johnny. Our main goal was to see the famous Bellbird (Pájaro Campana), and Johnny did everything possible to help us find it — and we finally did! He was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about birds and wildlife. He also helped us spot and identify many other bird species, assisted us with photos through the scope, and made the entire walk both fun and informative. Johnny’s attitude was outstanding: very kind, professional, and always willing to help. Highly recommended if you visit Monteverde and want a great birdwatching experience.

Our guide is knowledgeable and observant, with a lot of experience. With him, we saw many tropical birds. The one that impressed us the most was a three-wattled bellbird, which I had never seen before.

This was a beautiful reserve to see early in the morning. Our guide Johnny was awesome and made the trip really worth it. We saw so many birds including humming birds and toucans. Definitely recommend!

Excellent experience, we went with positive thoughts but low expectations in terms of the wildlife (it is wild, rarely performs on cue) , but our guide, Olger, was amazing - we saw a mottled owl, capuchin and spider monkeys, a bell bird, a toucan, a hummingbird, a viper , and briefly , a quetzal!

Jonny is a great guide. He is super experienced, knows the Reserve by heart and spots birds that are impossible to locate without a guide like Jonny. We had lots of fun and highly recommend Jonny for a bird watching tour.

Glorious experience with Johnny Loves Nature. We saw toucans,owls,hummingbirds,vibrant little blue birds and on and on. The guide was so skilled at spotting them and we came away with beautiful pictures that he took through his scope. Highly recommend.
