This is where I would start my first day in New Orleans...Delicious, fun, and informative!

This tour was our favorite while in the Crecant City! We chose to do the Foodie Tour with the cooking class demonstration following. It was a full day and we left with full bellies. My group consisted of 4 adults and one minor. Each one of us chose an activity/tour to do during our 4-day stay. My sons (20 yrs old and 22 yrs old) and husband thought that this was going to be a boring and long day. They were doing me a favor by going. It ended up being their favorite tour! Our foodie tour guide, Nate, brought us to approximately five or six places. Samples included: gator sausage, beignets, callah, muffulatta, gumbo, and more. The cooking class included artichoke and shrimp soup, crawfish etuffe, and pralines. At the cooking school, Chef "T" was a lot of fun and explained some of the science behind how the food was cooked that even this seasoned cook didn't know. The food was delicious and we were able to eat our fill. Upon returning home, my family immediately asked for the cooking class's "dinner" again. Everyone, including my boys, said that it was a tour that they would do again. No one said that about any other tour we went on during our stay. One of the nice things about the foodie tour was that it exposed us to places and restaurants that we wanted to (and did) go back to in order to try other items on the menu. The history lesson along the way was informative and entertaining. We will do this tour again when we go back to New Orleans. The cooking classes vary their menus according to the day, and I was given the impression that the food on the foodie tour part changes as our guide commented that he was going to see what the restaurant was serving us that day when we walked in at a couple of places. I think it could be a different adventure each time. At the end of the tour at the place where we met up, my son bought a T-shirt that says "I ate my way through New Orleans." On it are iconic dishes. By the end of the tour and cooking class, I think we had tried almost half of them. This gave us the goal of trying to "eat" through the rest of the dishes on the T-shirt during the remainder of our vacation. If you are thinking about going with little ones or elderly, it can be a lot of walking for them on uneven sidewalks, but it is no more than a few blocks at a time and then you sit for at least 20 minutes. Suggestion: Even if you do not do the cooking class demonstration (which I highly recommend you do), buy some "Joe's Stuff" seasoning from the cooking school. We have used it on boiled potatoes, fries, fish, the "remake" of the cooking class dinner, and more. It is a great seasoning with just enough heat and good flavor.

Taste and see New Orleans

What a great way to both learn about and taste New Orleans. Our guide Jack, was the best. Knowledgeable, personable and organized. The New Orleans cooking institute made gumbo and jambalaya look easy to make and taste was fantastic. We hit all of our food groups

You WON'T go hungry!

This was such a great tour! Nate, our tour guide, was just awesome! He paced our group perfectly and shared so many historical stories about the food that we were eating and the culture behind it. We learned about cajun and creole food and the stories behind why the food was prepared in a certain way using different ingredients. Our food stops were great! Some of my favorite stand outs on the food tour were the gator sausage and muffuletta sandwich. Everything was delicious. My tour ended with a cooking demonstration at the New Orleans Cooking School. Chef Cindy was FABULOUS! We watched her make a corn and crab bisque, which was my favorite thing I tried of the day. At this point we were stuffed, but kept eating anyway. Cindy did a wonderful job explaining the 3 things that she made for our group. What a fun day! I would highly recommend this activity for any foodies out there.
