Naast de stadstour, bezoeken aan een fruitkraam, bananen- en cacaoplantages en strandtijd waar u kunt lunchen, is het hoogtepunt ons bezoek aan het vlinderreservaat "Maratopia" en de boottocht door de Tortuguero-kanalen. Dompel jezelf onder in de magie van het Costa Ricaanse Caribisch gebied door een vlinderreservaat te verkennen dat gespecialiseerd is in de prachtige morfovlinders. Neem een kijkje in het leven van deze wezens, van hun larvestadium tot hun transformatie. Er is ook de mogelijkheid om schildpadden, kikkers en luiaards tegen te komen. Wandel door tropische tuinen vol leven. Geniet bovendien van een ontspannen tour door plantages van banaan, ananas, mango, papaja en meer! Duik in de biodiversiteit van het Costa Ricaanse Caribisch gebied en ontdek de fascinatie van de fauna en flora!
Ontdek de frisse en levendige smaken van Costa Rica bij een lokale fruitkraam, waar je de kans krijgt om tropische lekkernijen te proeven, zoals zoete ananas, sappige papaja, minibananen, knapperige platanito's, rijpe watermeloen en zelfs nippen van vers kokoswater. Proefproeverijen van fruit en lokale koffie zijn gratis. Als je een Caribische patty of een gekoelde kokosnoot wilt proberen, zijn ze verkrijgbaar voor slechts $1-$2. Direct naast de fruitkraam is er ook een kleine souvenirwinkel met handgemaakte ambachten en lokale producten. Je vindt er geweldige cadeau-ideeën, waaronder magneten, houtsnijwerk en zakken Costa Rica's beroemde koffie van hoge kwaliteit, wereldwijd bekend om zijn zachte smaak en rijke aroma.
Verken een lokale souvenirwinkel met authentieke Costa Ricaanse ambachten en geniet van een gratis proeverij van vers gezette koffie en gearomatiseerde cacao (zoals gekarameliseerd of kaneel). Indien beschikbaar, een korte wandeling van 15 minuten door de aangrenzende tuin toont tropische planten zoals ananas, cacao, kaneel, ylang ylang, en noni. Het hoogtepunt is een live demonstratie van hoe een verwerkingssysteem voor bananenplantages werkt, een boeiende blik op een van de belangrijkste exportproducten van Costa Rica.
Een van de hoogtepunten van de tour, deze rustige boottocht neemt je mee door de Tortuguero kanalen, vaak de "Amazone van Costa Rica" genoemd vanwege hun rijke biodiversiteit. Terwijl u langs de kalme wateren glijdt, omringd door weelderige vegetatie, helpt uw gids u wilde dieren te spotten, zoals luiaards, brulapen, leguanen, kaaimannen en een grote verscheidenheid aan tropische vogels. De boot beschikt over een dak, comfortabele stoelen en zwemvesten, waardoor het een ideale ervaring is voor gasten van alle leeftijden.
Onze laatste stop is bij Playa Bonita, een ontspannen en schilderachtige plek waar u kunt ontspannen aan de oceaan. We raden aan om de beroemde rijst en bonen gekookt in kokosmelk te proberen, of patacones, de knapperige groene bakbanaanchips die geliefd zijn in Costa Rica. Such a great day trip!! Catherine was an awesome guide!! We also got to see monkeys and that made me happy!! We ended up with a little rain but it did not dampen our day!

Everything about this experience was fantastic. The transportation was super comfortable, clean, and on time, with a very friendly driver. We started at the Butterfly Garden, a beautiful and peaceful place full of color and life. Watching the butterflies up close through their different life stages was fascinating, and the area is well maintained and accessible for all types of visitors. Then we went on the boat tour through the Tortuguero canals, and it was absolutely stunning. The nature is unreal, we saw monkeys, birds, caimans, and even 3 sloths 🦥 ! Our guide was one of the best we’ve ever had, super knowledgeable, passionate about his work, and very attentive to everyone in the group. Everything was well organized and ran smoothly. This is a must do experience if you’re in Costa Rica and want to connect with nature in a meaningful way. Highly recommended!

It was very easy to find the company and the guide when we got off the cruise, we started the day very fun thanks to the guide José as he is very nice and has a lot of knowledge, we managed to see many animals like sloths, monkeys, iguanas, basilisks and many birds, he knew how to give us a fun tour and with a lot of information. The car was very clean, had good air conditioning and good internet. Thank you for giving us an excellent tour, it was the best tour of our entire career on the cruise, we left a beautiful memory of Costa Rica.

We ended up being the only two who booked this tour so we had an amazing private tour with Kimberly (guide) and Anita (driver). The tour van was older and a little rough around the edges, but that didn't get in the way of this being one of the best tours I've ever been on. They were both so friendly and Kimberly was extremely knowledgeable about Limon and the places we visited. The butterfly house didn't have many butterflies due to recent heavy rains, but our guide Gabriel more than made up for it by touring the grounds with us and introducing us to the many plants and creatures. We were able to sample various fruits, including a tiny one I have never heard of before. On the canal tour we were able to see sloths (both varieties), howler monkeys, a caiman, and many different birds. Kimberly toured us through the organic plantation, where we also learned about many of the fruits grown in Limon. Be sure to try the roasted cacao beans with coconut, cinnamon, and sugar in the gift shop - so delicious! I would 100% recommend this tour!
