It was really great tour with Wellington. I was first time in Brazil and did not worry about my safety during the tour. I can recommend Wellington as best local gid.

We heard about the tour through the backpackers and had the most amazing day. After all the negative things we had heard about the favela's and how unsafe they are, this trip opened our eyes to what real life is like in the Favelas. I would highly recommend the tour to anyone who is keen to see another side of life in Rio

I went visiting Rocinha with Wellington. It was very interesting as he explained almost evertything about how life in a favela works. We walked in the small streets through the favela and could smell the real atmosphere. I enjoyed the tour as it was very instructive and gave me the sense of living there.

The 'Favella tour' with Wellington I would recommend to everyone if you want to see 'the other', and perhaps 'realer' side of Rio. In a positive sense, because many prejudices you may have about the Favellas are being dispelled. Wellington is a very nice guide with a very personal approach. Because he lives there himself, he knows the perimeter and people of Rocinha very well. He creates a good and safe Mood. For me it was one of the best experiences in Rio. Go!!

As the carioca people go about their daily lives you get an opportunity to see the other side of Brazil. There is a real sense of community - locals enjoying the hustle & bustle of their day & the kids smiling & laughing. An absolute must do in Rio, a unique experience exploring one of the many favela's in Brazil. Wellington does a fantastic job of immersing you in the local culture.

Having experienced Wellington the day prior on another tour, and hearing him speak passionately about the Favelas of Rio, we knew this would be a great tour. Starting on the beach of Copacabana, we made our way to the underground railway system, some 6 or 7 stops away to Wellington's home Favela. A hot bus ride greeted us to the top of the Favela, negotiating the narrow streets and numerous heavy vehicles that filled the winding street roads, an experience in itself. Our first stop was a souvenir shop at the top of the Favela, hidden up a stair case and past a family bathing in a home made swimming pool. The views from here were spectacular and plenty of photo opportunities for everyone, you could see the whole of the Favela and more of Rio. From there we worked our way down between the houses, each one unique, through little walk ways which then appeared on the roadside further down the hills. We stopped at points for Wellington to tell us more and more about life in the Favela, bringing us more and more into the story he was telling. The tour appeared to end at the base of the Favela, but we then made our way over the overpass to watch a Capoeira show with energy free that couldn't stop you from clapping along. This is a MUST do whilst in Rio and shows you a life that is often misrepresented and untrue, I felt safer in the Favela than in downtown Rio.

Awesome tour, when you’re in Rio you must do this tour with Wellington. He takes you to the Favela via the subway and then bus, and then walks you through the little laneways and larger streets of the Favela, explaining everything along the way. You get to experience the real day to day life of the Favela. Amazing tour and Wellington is an amazing guide!
