Reisroute

Our group was shepherded with care from the Regalia rendezvous out to the great palace, where we were handed over to our main guide, Julie. She deserves a high rating, informative not only on the fabric of the palace but also of the nature of Louis XIV. She held our attention throughout a long tour among crowded rooms in extreme temperatures. Well worth the effort.
Thank you! We're so glad Julie's knowledge of both the palace itself and the history of Louis XIV came through so well — holding a group's attention through crowded rooms in that heat is no small thing, and it's exactly what a good guide makes possible. It's lovely to read that the meeting at Regalia felt like a proper start to the day and that you were well taken care of on the journey too. We'll make sure Julie sees this!
A great tour with a fantastic guide. Matthieu was very knowledgeable and took us throughout the place and grounds. His art history background really shows in his subject knowledge. Taking the public train to and from the palace was very easy and the coordinator who met us and took us to Versailles made sure we all knew how to get back on our on when we finished.
Thank you, Scott! Mathieu's background in art history really does bring an extra layer to the visit — it's wonderful when that expertise comes through so clearly. Glad the train made for such an easy way to get to and from Versailles, and that our coordinator made sure everyone felt confident finding their own way back afterward. Really appreciate you sharing this!
The train station was closed on the way back so we had to get uber back to Paris. The train station ticket was paid for and the only direct way back.
Thank you for flagging this, Elena, and we're sorry the journey back was disrupted. Train closures like this are rare and outside our control, but it's a good reminder that the return ticket does cover alternative routes back to Paris beyond the direct line, so there's always a fallback if this were ever to happen again. Glad the rest of the day went well, and thank you for your understanding.
Claire was a magnificent guide! Travelers should know that there is quite a bit of walking involved, including from the train station to the palace. Also, once the tour ends the return trip is on your own. One suggestion for the tour operator is to upgrade the headsets to disposable earbuds for a more comfortable listening experience. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour, learned a lot and appreciated Claire’s perspective of bringing to life what royal court life would have actually been like. She was great at managing some of the youngest travelers too, on a very hot day, and even thought to bring spritzes of water for our faces. Truly fantastic experience!
Thank you, Katheryn! Claire clearly brought the whole story of royal court life to life for you, and it's wonderful to hear she looked after the youngest in your group too, water spritzes and all, on such a hot day. On the headsets, the good news is that what you had were actually the upgrade: brand new, adjustable, state-of-the-art devices we moved to specifically instead of disposable earbuds, which create a huge amount of unrecyclable waste. We appreciate you flagging the walking and the independent return too, both good things for future guests to know ahead of time. We're so glad it was such a memorable day despite the heat!
It is very hot during summer, enough so that the garden tour will be difficult for the heat sensitive. The palace is not entirely air conditioned. Berrick took care of the train logistics and was immensely helpful with route/return planning. Palace guide Bayou was most enthusiastic but would have benefitted from more pure history and a quicker pace of moving through.
Thank you for such a thorough review, James! Berek is fantastic at the train logistics, so it's great to hear the route and return planning went smoothly under his watch. The heat in summer really can be intense, especially in a palace built long before air conditioning existed — bringing water is always a good shout, and our morning tours are a cooler, quieter option if the heat is a concern next time. On the history side, Bayo's approach leans into just how theatrical and strange court life at Versailles genuinely was — the rituals, the rank, the scheming were as real as anything in the history books, which is why our guides bring it to life rather than just listing dates. The palace's one-way route means he chooses where to pause rather than moving at a fixed pace, so the flow is deliberate rather than rushed. Hope the rest of your time here in Paris stayed cool!
Tour guide was very knowledgeable and communicated very well.
Thank you for giving us 5 stars! We are very happy to read that you enjoyed your guided tour of Versailles, it's a special place that we love showing to our guests, and we are so glad you liked it too. We hope you're having a fantastic stay here!
Had a great experience with booking a guided tour of Versailles. Our guide met us at designated spot. Took us all of the group by train to Versailles. The group had too many people for one guide. We were split in two. It was great English speaking. Learned a lot from our pleasant French guide.
Thank you Andrea! We're so glad you had a great experience and that your guide brought Versailles to life so well. Our coordinators escort all guests to Versailles together, where each group then meets their own dedicated guide for the visit — our tours are capped at 20 guests to keep the experience personal and enjoyable for everyone. We're so glad you learned so much and hope you had a wonderful time here in Paris!
This tour shows as 3 hours but half if the time is the train, getting to meet point, and then a bathroom break. We did not start the tour until 3:00, 1.5 hours after the train meet point. This tour seems pretty expensive for what you get, search elsewhere….. tour guide was very good.
Thank you Louis and we're glad your guide impressed. We do want to reassure future guests on a couple of points though. Our tour is clearly listed as 3 hours guided at Versailles, with travel time of approximately 40 minutes each way stated separately — Versailles is outside Paris and the journey is part of the experience, not part of the tour time. We ask guests to arrive 15 minutes early at the meeting point so our team can welcome everyone and call anyone who needs help finding us. We also build in a small buffer for train delays to ensure we always arrive on time for our pre-booked timed entry. A comfort break is always offered, especially during a heatwave. All of this is to make sure the visit itself is as relaxed and enjoyable as possible. We're sorry if the timing felt different to what you expected and hope you enjoyed the visit itself!
Easy train ride from RER. Have own ticket to come back when you want. Ivan tour guide very knowledge
Thank you Sheila! We agree Versailles is a must see, we absolutely love it there, and we're glad you did too! We'll pass your kind words on to Ivan. And good tip about the golf carts, they are great fun and a perfect way to visit the rest of the estate after your tour. We're all hoping the heatwave will be over soon!
Amazing tour guide & lot of fun! Spoke very well English. Everyone enjoyed - adults & kids. Our guide was very knowledgeable and kept everyone entertained.
Thank you Kunal! Mathieu has a wonderful ability to bring Versailles to life for everyone and we're so glad the whole group — adults and kids alike — had such a great time. That's always something we love to hear! He'll be delighted to read this. Hope you had a fantastic time here in Paris.
