Wandel onder de oude marmeren arcades door en luister naar verhalen van gladiatoren en van de oude Romeinse spelen die hier vroeger plaatsvonden. Arena, die een aardbeving in de 12e eeuw overleefde, is nog steeds de favoriete openlucht Operazaal van de stad, vanwege zijn unieke geluidskwaliteit. Tegenwoordig is het beroemd om het Operaseizoen dat in 1913 begon met de wereldberoemde Aida. It was a great tour and our guide was delightful!! I enjoyed it very much. It was a hot day but it was certainly worth the visit and time spent there!!

The app instructions on the meeting point are very unclear - using the maps GPS option from within the app takes you to a point that is incorrect. We nearly missed the tour as a consequence. Much better to say ‘meet outside Gate xx’. Our guide didn’t bother to introduce himself to us and there was no way of actually identifying him as the Viator guide. Whilst knowledgeable about the arena, our guide made little effort to interact with the group.
