Pick-up van uw hotel in Athene of andere accommodatie. We rijden ongeveer 1 uur om het kanaal van Korinthe te bereiken.
Corinth Canl verbindt de Golf van Korinthe in de Ionische Zee met de Saronische Golf in de Egeïsche Zee. Het snijdt door de smalle landengte van Korinthe en scheidt de Peloponnesos van het Griekse vasteland, waardoor het schiereiland waarschijnlijk een eiland wordt. Eerste stop daar, zal geweldige foto's maken.
Het oude Korinthe was een stadstaat (polis) op de landengte van Korinthe, het smalle stuk land dat de Peloponnesos verbindt met het vasteland van Griekenland, ongeveer halverwege Athene en Sparta.Korinthe was een stadstaat en voor christenen is Korinthe goed bekend van de twee brieven van Sint Paulus in het Nieuwe Testament, Eerste en Tweede Korintiërs. Korinthe wordt ook genoemd in de Handelingen van de Apostelen als onderdeel van de missionarisreizen van Paulus de Apostel. U kunt een wandeling maken door de oude stadstaat Korinthe, waar u ook de Bema van Sint-Paulus kunt zien en het kleine museum in de archeologische site kunt verkennen.
Akrocorinthe, "Boven-Korinthe", de akropolis van het oude Korinthe, is een monolithische rots die uitkijkt over de oude stad Korinthe en de Golf van Korinthe. Het is de meest indrukwekkende van de akropolis van het Griekse vasteland. Met zijn veilige watervoorziening werd het fort van Acrocorinthe herhaaldelijk gebruikt als laatste verdedigingslinie in Zuid-Griekenland, omdat het het bevel voerde over de landengte van Korinthe, waardoor vijanden over land het schiereiland Peloponnesos niet binnenkwamen.
Bezoek dit geweldige pittoreske bergdorp en proef authentieke Griekse gerechten en lokale wijnen. Kalavrita en de omgeving zijn een resort voor alle seizoenen. Dit is jouw lunchplek! Een zeldzame creatie van de natuur met mysterieuze galerijen en vreemde stalactietformatiesOver het algemeen zijn de muren van de grot verfraaid met prachtige stalactietcomplexen, die het oog en de verbeelding stimuleren om hun eigen beelden te maken, terwijl de bezoeker door dit stenen bos vol verrassingen loopt, terwijl hij op een veilige gang loopt.Aan het einde van deze gang kijkt de bezoeker uit op het «Kasteel», een van de meest indrukwekkende formaties op de grond die herinnert aan de kantelen van een kasteel, en zelfs een «wal» enkele meters daarvoor. Kleine of grote meren, 13 in totaal, volgen elkaar op, terwijl landgebieden tot het einde van de grot worden afgewisseld met meergebieden, voor een totale lengte van bijna 2 km (1980 m) en een oppervlakte van 20.000 m2. Als men verder het interieur ingaat, heeft de bezoeker de kans om de bijzondere morfologie van een grot te realiseren die langs een breuk is geopend: vandaar de smalheid en het zeer hoge plafond. Leer daar alles over de grotten.
Stap aan boord van de Odontotos spoorweg en bewonder de grootsheid van dit deel van de Peloponnesos. Odontotos is niet zomaar een trein. Vouraikos kloof en Odontotos tandradbaan Diakopto – Kalavrita is een unieke attractie in Griekenland. Een gebied vol steden, dorpen, gastvrije inwoners, unieke omgeving en de geur van het Griekse leven. Om de geschiedenis van deze plek te kunnen schrijven hebben we boekdelen nodig maar een ritje met de trein geeft je een echte smaak.

A great daytrip to see parts of the Pelopennese. The visit to ancient Corinth and Akrocorinth were a highlight as you arrive before the crowds. The train ride was great - scenery was beautiful. Lunch was delicious and the tavern had great atmosphere. The cave tour was shorter than expected, but at the end of a long day that was actually okay. My driver Antony was professional, polite, and informative.

If you have the chance to take a private tour, take this one! Our guide Nathan was prompt, kind and friendly. We had an amazing day, packing in many different experiences, that is only possible to do as a private tour - there's no way we could have done so much in a tour bus! The meal was absolutely delicious, Acrocorinth was spectacular (well worth the climb!), and the mountain train was breathtaking. Highly recommend!

We had a trip the Old Corinth, Acrocorinth, Kalavryta, the Cave of the Lakes, and the train back to Diakopti with Crispy Local. It was our third trip with Crispy Local with our host and driver Anthony. The service was great again and the experience wonderful. A great thank you for Anthony! Apart from that the sites we visited are absolutely worth visiting. A view into Greek history, excellent panoramas, delicious food, a marvellous train trip through the nature of the mountainous area of Kalavryta. We had an absolutely great day! Next year we will book another tour!

We had the best day with our tour guide and driver Mr. George! Seeing Ancient Corinth was amazing and the Caves of Lakes were beautiful! We enjoyed a great lunch at a local family owned tavern and everybody said this was their best lunch yet in Greece! We finished our day with the train ride through the mountains and it ended our perfect day!

From the first interaction I knew we were going to be in for a treat. Nathan reached out to confirm the tour, explained where he would meet us and was exceptionally polite. Once in the car our journey began. Nathan navigated the traffic quickly and efficiently while also telling us lots about Athens and its origins. From the moment Giorgos picked us up at our hotel the trip was fantastic. He was personable and the 10 hour day went so fast! The vehicle was clean. He was a good driver. The sights are unbelievable. Corinth canal, the Temple of Zeus, and the Cave of the Lakes were worth the trip. Lunch was in this cute village. Food was authentic. The railway trip down the mountain was beautiful. If you like the countryside combines with Greek archeology I would recommend this day. The company was easy to book with and contact.

Our driver, George, was exceptional. This is a long excursion, but George was so interesting that the drives felt short. 3 member of our group of 6 have mobility difficulties, but George went above and beyond to ensure all of us always saw the most that we could possibly see and we never felt rushed. Railway ride was very fun and gave breathtaking views. Especially if you can no longer hike, I highly recommend this train. Cave of Lakes is a place of wonder. You cannot take photos in the cave. You must experience for yourself. And, of course, Ancient Corinth and the Corinth Canal were fantastic to see. For lunch, we expected a predetermined meal, but we were given menus and able to choose the dishes we wanted. All food was delicious. We were in port for the day with our cruise ship. Pick up was very easy to find our driver, and drop off was in plenty of time to be back onboard. Communication prior to our excursion was always clear and questions were answered promptly.

This excursion was a must see and one our highlights of Athens. From the Breath taking visit to the caves to the biblical visit to Corinth. Our tour guide was the best ever Yanice was extremely knowledgeable and professional. We so enjoyed his history lessons and information as we visited the sites. The train ride was exceptional and not to be missed. We highly recommend this full day trip out of Athens it’s well worth your time.
