Begin de dag met een stop in het ossuarium "La ferme de Navarin", monument ingehuldigd door generaal Gouraud in 1924, ter nagedachtenis van Franse soldaten die stierven tijdens de Grote Oorlog. Je gids brengt je vervolgens naar de Maas, in het hart van het bos waar de schuilplaats “Kronprinz” zich bevindt, een van het Duitse soldatenkamp. Verken de beroemde heuvel van Vauquois, vol met galerijen, waar 14.000 soldaten hun leven verloren langs een klein deel van het westelijke front. Rijd naar de historische plek Varennes-en-Argonne, bij het Amerikaanse oorlogsmonument van Pennsylvania en bewonder het prachtige panorama van de vallei van de Aire. Hoor een fascinerende kant opzij over de koning Louis XVI die daar in 1791 werd gearresteerd. Ontdek de meest bekende Amerikaanse begraafplaats van de Eerste Wereldoorlog in Romagne sous Montfaucon. Kom het indrukwekkende ossuarium in Douaumont tegen, waar niet-geïdentificeerde Franse en Duitse soldaten rusten. Sluit deze reis af met een bezoek aan het "Fort de Douaumont", het iconische fort van de Verdun-strijd.

We had a private guide pick us up at our hotel in Reims for a full day tour which included a tasty restaurant lunch. Thé guide was extremely knowledgeable and had university degrees in history snd philosophy. As he drove, he provided a wealth information about the area as well as a the sites. We are fascinated by history and we couldn’t have been more pleased by the tour or our guide. We would highly recommend this tour!!! We were in the area to tour champagne houses as well as to bike through the Champagne and Alsace regions and this was a nice accompaniment to that trip.

This tour was absolutely amazing with the best tour guide! Jerome was so knowledgeable about French history and all of our stops along the way. He even made lunch reservations for us at a local restaurant. The people there were so warm and welcoming, wonderful food and company. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone even remotely interested in history.

Jerome was amazing! We had such an educational experience with him seeing the forts. He gave so much other background information. He kept the perfect pace, and showed us very cool spots. It was the perfect experience and I would recommend to anyone who is interested in history, or really anyone to experience these places. They were so interesting!
