Het Canal Grande stroomt door het hart van Venetië en is een lust voor het oog. Deze iconische waterweg, die meer dan 3,2 kilometer lang is en de vorm heeft van een achterwaartse 'S', baant zich een weg door de stad, verbindt boeiende buurten en laat de architectonische wonderen van Venetië zien. Begeef je op een reis langs het Canal Grande en wees getuige van de grootsheid van de paleizen, kerken en gebouwen langs de oevers. Bewonder hun ingewikkelde ontwerpen, versierd met kleurrijke gevels en elegante details, die eeuwenlange Venetiaanse geschiedenis en culturele rijkdom weerspiegelen. Terwijl je langs het glinsterende water glijdt, geniet je van de levendige sfeer van het Venetiaanse leven. Aan het einde van de 18e eeuw had Venetië zeven oude theaters, twee gewijd aan drama en de rest aan muziek. De meest luxueuze onder hen was het Teatro San Benedetto, gelegen nabij Campo San Luca. Opgericht door de familie Grimani in 1755, werd het later overgedragen aan de Noble Society of Box Holders. Vanwege een gerechtelijk akkoord in 1787 werd de vereniging echter verdreven en gedwongen het theater over te dragen aan de edelen van Venier, die eigenaar waren van de grond waarop het gebouw stond. De vereniging begon prompt met de bouw van een nieuw en grootser theater, dat Gran Teatro La Fenice zou heten, naar de mythische en onsterfelijke vogel die door Herodotus in zijn Histories wordt genoemd. Net zoals de feniks in staat is om uit zijn eigen as te herrijzen, zou dit nieuwe theater de wedergeboorte van de samenleving uit haar tegenslagen symboliseren.
Er zijn tal van toponymische overblijfselen die herinneren aan een wijdverbreide aanwezigheid in het verleden, enigszins door de hele stad, van tuinbouwactiviteiten of in ieder geval van onontwikkelde gebieden bedekt met vegetatie, waaronder we de campi, campagne en binnenplaatsen van het gras of de eelt van de vechter. De eerste zekere verklaring van de Rio dell'Alboro dateert uit 1696, terwijl die van de Rio de le Ostreghe erbij komt in de volgende eeuw. Het is waarschijnlijk dat er in de buurt een verkoper van deze heerlijke zeevruchten was gestationeerd, waarvan de teelt in de lagune een aanzienlijke boost kreeg, vooral in de eerste helft van de 19e eeuw, en er zijn ook sporen achtergelaten in het ostregheri-kanaal met dezelfde naam, tegenwoordig Canale dei Lavraneri, in Sacca Fisola.
Santa Maria della Salute, gelegen in Venetië, is een prachtige basiliek die symbool staat voor dankbaarheid en hoop. Gebouwd in de 17e eeuw, was het gewijd aan de Maagd Maria om de bevrijding van de stad van de verwoestende pest te herdenken. De indrukwekkende koepelstructuur en het elegante barokke ontwerp maken het tot een opvallend architectonisch juweeltje langs het Canal Grande. Het interieur is versierd met prachtige kunstwerken en uitgebreide decoraties, waardoor bezoekers een gevoel van ontzag krijgen. Tegenwoordig blijft Santa Maria della Salute een belangrijk religieus en cultureel monument in Venetië, waar zowel de lokale bevolking als toeristen zich over verwonderen over de schoonheid en betekenis ervan.

We had a beautiful tour Stopping at different facilities Hotel, Resort.. From the magnificent landscapes, full of ancient history and recent Bangkok chaotic city, but fascinating!! Between majestic temples and modern buildings, evocative meetings with monks immersed in nature .. The bathroom with beautiful elephants to see... and many other interesting things

Booked Gondolier trip in Venice £148.22 for two people, advertised as a “magical 30-minute experience around the canals of Venice, book now to avoid being over charged locally, but if you do find it cheaper, we will price match”. The trip was rubbish, last 20 mins at most, only thing the gondolier said was to moan about the weight not being distributed evenly, basically went round a few corners and back to base, then another 5 mins just to park up again. The event organisers were advertising same trip for €36 pp. On complaining they refused to price match. So if you take my advice DON’T BOOK, it’s a scam, and pay locally, but go to a private Gondolier and not the rip off merchants we used. So much for the magic of Venice.

What a waste of money, we paid £148.22 for 15 minutes in the gondola. There was no narration and we went out of the docking area, up a side canal and back. To top it off the other couple on our gondola had paid €37. 00 each. I will be contacting Tripadvidor for a refund. Also it was not magical, just a conveyor belt. Do not book before you travel!

If your purpose is to say you "did it" then this is fine but if you are wanting an experience then this is not for you. As they say you get what you pay for. Our Gondolier chatted with another Gondolier the whole time so we had another group of people in a Gondola next to us the enitre time. The water taxi had a far more intimate experience but we have pictures to say "been there, done that."
We had a conversation with our operator and unfortunately the gondolier did not have a good attitude. We apologize and inform you that the gondolier has already been fired from the company.
I took my mother to Venice and booked this gondola. It was disappointing, it was 22 minutes and that is short for so much money. We expected more from this, it would take 30 minutes.

If you are going mid day with the crowd, you will want to book as lines are long. This was my 2nd ride. My first I did in the morning on my own w no crowds so the water was peaceful and it seemed to be a longer ride going solo.
