De Vaticaanse Musea zijn het nationale museum van Vaticaanstad in Rome. Opgericht door paus Julius II in de 16e eeuw, nemen ze een groot deel van de uitgestrekte binnenplaats van de Belvedere in beslag en vormen ze een van de grootste kunstcollecties ter wereld, aangezien ze de enorme collectie kunstwerken tonen die door de eeuwen heen is verzameld pausen: de Sixtijnse Kapel en de pauselijke vertrekken met fresco's van Michelangelo en Rafaël maken deel uit van de werken die bezoekers tijdens hun reis kunnen bewonderen. Hoewel de musea zich volledig op Vaticaans grondgebied bevinden, is hun ingang op Italiaans grondgebied, in viale Vaticano 6 in Rome.
Bezoek de prachtige Sixtijnse Kapel en bewonder de fresco's van Michelangelo, beroemd over de hele wereld en beschouwd als een hoeksteen van de westerse kunst. De Sixtijnse Kapel (in het Latijn: Sacellum Sixtinum), gewijd aan Maria ten hemel opgenomen, is de hoofdkapel van het apostolisch paleis, evenals een van de beroemdste culturele en artistieke schatten van Vaticaanstad, opgenomen in de route van de Vaticaanse Musea. Het werd gebouwd tussen ongeveer 1475 en 1481, in de tijd van paus Sixtus IV della Rovere, waarnaar het zijn naam ontleende. Warning, this is a scam. The tour operator changed the meet point the day before, did not show, would not answer calls and then rejected my request for a refund. We were at the designated spot 30 minutes in advance.

I had the worst experience ever. We've book a tour for 350 euros and they just cancelled our reservation only a day prior.

The tour was meant to start at 9.30am to beat the crowds but we did not enter the Vatican museum till at least 11 am

Tour guide was outstanding. The Viator organization not so much. I must have received at least a dozen reminders of time and date. In the end they were all wrong. Fortunately the time was later than earlier. Not good.

The guide Filippo very professional and very prepared. But at the Vatican Museum he explained that we could either visit the papal apartments painted by Rafaello or relax with the group in the Sistine Chapel of Michelangelo. I think it is not possible to lose the painted apartments of Rafaello was a very serious failure.I was very sad and my companion too. For the amount paid I think it was fair a differentiated treatment. At first the tour was scheduled for 16.30 after they alerted that it was 14.30 (;14.00 in the agency) I think something wrong happened and the value was not appropriate for the tour done. Greetings. Excellent and knowledgeable tour guide, easy meeting place, perfect flow through tour with explanations! Sistine chapel close for conclave so tour ended early and no refund from viator. I’d recommend but maybe viator should have contacted us to adjust rate.

Although we misunderstood our meeting point and arrive late to the right location. They were still able to accommodate us at a later time. The tour itself was amazing and our tour guide was able to explain and pinpoint areas of interest to us all. I gave it five stars because it was a great experience and I would highly recommend it. I would also take this tour again if I have an opportunity to visit Rome again in the future.
