Plitvice staat bekend als een natuurlijk fenomeen omdat ze blijven veranderen door sedimentatie van calciumcarbonaat en speciale soorten algen en mos, tufsteen of travertijn creëren die zijn afgezet en nog steeds worden afgezet om de natuurlijke dammen te vormen die de meren scheiden. Aangezien het proces vandaag de dag aan de gang is, worden er, net zoals altijd, nieuwe travertijnbarrières, gordijnen, stalactieten, kanalen en watervallen gebouwd terwijl de bestaande blijven veranderen. Het maakt dus niet uit of je de meren al eerder hebt bezocht, ze zien er nu waarschijnlijk anders uit, dus je kunt ze nog een keer bezoeken en je nooit vervelen. Naast de meren zijn er enkele interessante grotten waarin overblijfselen van prehistorische nederzettingen zijn gevonden.

Kinderen moeten bij een volwassene op schoot zitten

De tour bevat prox. 5 km wandelen op oneffen oppervlakken - draag comfortabele wandelschoenen (we bezoeken de hoogtepunten van beide, de Lower Lakes en de Upper Lakes).
Kinderen moeten worden begeleid door een volwassene.

Amazing views and an incredible experience
This park is absolutely stunning. It one of the most beautiful parks I’ve been to. It is definitely a must see. Our tour guide, Antonia, was so fun and had a great sense of humor. She gave us facts about the park and Croatia that made the excursion interesting.

A great full day experience
A fantastic experience, office let us know to bring our own packed lunch, as would have long waits in line. Our guide Lovro (Larry) was very passionate and entertaining. He also gave us very helpful tips regarding where to eat in Split. We had a great day, highly recommended Lisa and Gav from Australia

An unforgettable experience
Plitvice was one of the most amazing national parks I’ve been to. All of my pictures look photoshopped because the colors are so vibrant. It’s not like anything I’ve ever seen. Antonia was our guide and she was fun, upbeat and had a good sense of humor which really made this tour a memorable experience. She gave us a lot of insight about the park and history of Croatia and was one of the best guides I’ve had on a tour. This is definitely an experience you don’t want to miss.

Plitvice Lakes Guided Tour
The guided tour of the Plitvice Lakes was great! The views were beautiful and our guide, Antonia, was incredibly informative, friendly, patient and knowledgeable. She kept tabs on the group, took pictures for everyone, answered questions, and provided history and stories of the lakes as well as Croatia in general. I would absolutely recommended completing this hike with a guide if you are interested in history or even would just like additional tips to further enjoy the scenery and better your experience.

A must-see in Split
The trip from Split is tiring. But a good experience, the park is huge. You have to go in comfortable clothing because you walk quite a bit
