Geen telefoons of apps vereist om een van de spellen van het originele mystery-gamebedrijf van Vancouver te spelen. Het is een real life avontuur ontworpen en eigendom van de lokale bevolking.
Zijn we een Escape Room? Nee, maar er zijn overeenkomsten. Wij zijn ook geen speurtocht! Vancouver Mysteries-games zijn meeslepende ervaringen die spelers in een verhaal plaatsen terwijl het zich ontvouwt. Aan het einde van het spel zul je Gastown beter kennen dan sommige locals!

So much fun!
I had heard good things about Vancouver Mysteries, so I was expecting to enjoy it. That said, it still exceeded my expectations; it was so much fun! Well organized, fast paced and extremely well thought out. The clues were very clever. Challenging as you would expect, but not impossible. You had to brainstorm with your partner and let your ideas flow. Highly recommended!

Mystery
My Daughter and I did this mystery for her 13th birthday. It was wonderful to be doing a real life puzzle together without a screen. Some of the clues were quite challenging, until, of course we figured them out. The clues are solved partly through observation and partly through logic. Both of us contributed to solving the clues and we had to work together. The mystery is also a mini walking tour through old Gastown, which is a bonus. It took around 90 minutes and was well worth it.

Best historical mystery tour!
We signed up for this not knowing what to expect, it was so much cleverer, in-depth and fun than we ever imagined. We met our detective/guide who was terrific - stayed in character while she gave us the story outline and instructions. Then armed with a detective bag of clues and tools we made our way around the streets and alleys of Gastown by following the detailed and sometimes cryptic directions to find the next clue. A LOT of time and thought went into creating the mystery story, it was a really fun and entertaining few hours. Team costumes encouraged and highly recommended! Great for a fun date night, a gang of friends or a work event. Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike.

Valentines date dud
We arrived and were really excited. When we got into the game we realized the clues were quite difficult for us to understand. Eg. “place the card with the window over the plaque on the building to discover the letter for the next clue” it was three paragraphs! It could be placed anywhere on the plaque. We are pros at escape rooms and play lots of complex board games. I do think this game is great for people who know the city, play lots of trivia and Jeopardy style games. For us it was a wash.

Hi Jody! My apologies for the delayed response, this review just popped up on our end now for some reason. On average, our games have a much higher success rate so we usually say our games are easier than escape rooms. Both tourists and locals regularly solve our mysteries or at least finish our games with a high score. It sounds like our game wasn't your cup of tea and I'm sorry to hear that. We do have a mobile indoor game that is a lot like a portable escape room but be warned all of the feedback so far is that it is a LOT more difficult than our outdoor games. If you are feeling like a challenge we'd love to have you come back to try that one. Stay tuned for dates this summer hopefully.
