Vaartuig bij Hudson Yards Toegangsbewijs

Beschrijving

What a cool first experience! Even though we are native New Yorkers, this was so worth it! The world Cup was on and USA was playing Australia on a big screen right below the Vessel, which we could see!
It is a beautiful sculpture in enormous size, which we can walk through inside but I admit it does not impress so much inside. It is beautiful, has its value and its peculiar angles but on the outside you can see equally much and faster. I think it is good and worth visiting but I do not classify it as unavoidable.
Last time we visited NYC, a few years ago, this structure was closed apparently due to some suicides! This visit we saw you could go on it and maybe the anticipation and expectation was too much because on a whim we decided we had to visit. $17 each got us a ticket and we were there at opening time 11.00am. A very officious steward ushered us rudely from near the entrance when we were sheltering from the wind while online trying to get the tickets. Excitedly we were one of the first in but not before security check and a loud equally obnoxious shouting woman yelled at people to do this or that - a message to that steward take a chill pill or find a job not involving people! as you are useless at it. Security check of bags was not thorough as I’d expect after the past as someone with wire cutters could easily get them through and they could still jump if they wanted to!! Inside we were invited by a quiet steward to pick some stairs and start our journey. We proceeded to ascent to the top. 7 sets I think of stairs And admittedly the copper symmetry is worth a look and different views than get at ground floor but was it worth $17 I am not sure. We chose to walk down the steps than take the lift - slow slow lift we took some pictures of the symmetry and found many of the stairs were shut so you couldn’t go all the way around and that frustrated us as it wasn’t clear then at the bottom we found old shouty yelling exit exit this way - so we did! Disappointed frustrated and wished we hadn’t - in my opinion it’s seriously not worth the money!
Easy and cool experience with some great pics!
If you make a reservation on the day, it will be more than 3000 yen in Japanese yen, I didn't know what was particularly good about it. I feel like it’s enough to try it as an object from the outside.
Update 2024: They've added safety nets/fences to the exterior and upper interior areas. The very top sections are also closed as they are unable to add nets/fences to those areas. Still a great experience but the views can be a bit obstructed with the nets/fences and inaccessible top floor. Reservations are available every 10 minutes. $10 for timed tickets and $15 for flex tickets. Free on Thursdays for NYC residents. The screening (metal detector and baggage check) was quick.
Thanks for the feedback, Jemlnlx! We’re glad you enjoyed your experience and appreciate your understanding of the safety measures. Your insights about the views and ticketing help us improve. We hope to see you again soon for another visit!
Although the Vessel is closed, the building is awesome to see. We enjoyed the outdoor restaurants and the yard in itself. This place is gorgeous to see
We enjoyed seeing the vessel when we were at the edge. It was unfortunately shut though and not sure I'd make the trip specially just for the vessel.
Ever since watching Project Runway Season 18 and seeing the challenge they completed here, we have wanted to see it with our own eyes. What an architectural wonder! Too bad we could not get any higher than the ground level, but with the recent suicides, it is understandable! Also, this was not a tour, possibly because of the closure of higher levels...
I still don't get it. It is interesting but I don't "get it" Art for art's sake I guess. Now you cannot go up anymore as people keep jumping. It does bring tourists and there are lots of food trucks and a gift shop for them. I would not make a special trip. But, if you like "Art" this is for you and rated as such. I would rather more muchly needed green space.
