Vanaf het kantoor van Andes Salt Expeditions begint de tour om 10:30 uur. In een Toyota Land Cruiser 4 × 4 WD. We bezoeken de Train Cemetery, een goede plek om artistieke foto's te maken. Vervolgens gaan we naar de uitvalsbasis van het bedrijf om de hygiënische badkamer te gebruiken die 3 badkamers en douches heeft voor zowel dames als heren en tegelijkertijd passen we onze laarzen voor het zoute water om het spiegeleffect te bezoeken en ook lunch op te halen voor de groep.
Aankomst in COLCHANI, gelegen aan de rand van de zoutvlakten van Uyuni en het hoofdkwartier van de Rosario Coöperatie, belangrijkste joderingsinstallaties met 15 rustieke zoutfabrieken. Hier worden ovens gebruikt om het zout te drogen, het vermalen van zout, het mengen van jodium met zout, het verpakken van zout in zakken voor nationale en medicinale consumptie kan worden waargenomen.
Aankomst op de grote Salar de Uyuni met een oppervlakte van 12 vierkante kilometer, op deze plek bezoeken we de ogen van zout (grote gaten in de zoutvlakte waar zout water door hoge druk uitkomt), we bezoeken de vlaggen van de wereld, uitzicht op het Dakar-monument, de ogen van zout, perspectieffotosessie en grappige video's met onze professionele deskundige chauffeursgids. Lunch op dezelfde plek, 15 minuten lopen op de zoutvlakte voordat u aankomt op Incawasi Island ligt in het centrum van de zoutvlakte op 120 km van Uyuni. Dit is de belangrijkste bestemming voor de meeste zoutwoestijntochten. Het is een buitengewone, buitenaardse plek, bedekt met gigantische, middelgrote en kleine cactussen, een platte witte zee van zeshoekige zouttegels, bevolkt door gestrande vizcacha's (Andes-knaagdieren) Fish Island is een oase met een uniek en geïsoleerd ecosysteem dat wordt bevolkt door cactussen tot 7 tot 10 meter hoog. Fotografen zullen Cactus Island een van de beste locaties ter wereld vinden om hun passie te bevredigen,
Daarna gaan we de zoutvlakte van meer dan 100 km verkennen, om het zoute water te bezoeken en het spiegeleffect te observeren, op dezelfde plek zullen we de zonsondergang en een snack met rode wijn en koekjes, pringles hebben en we zullen de tour om 19:30 uur beëindigen.

We had a great time on this tour! Our driver and guide Eduardo was excellent. He suggested an alternative route where we could see the mirror effect even during the dry season, which was a great surprise and gave us plenty of opportunities for really nice photos. Everything was well organized and all costs were clear. Lunch and a lovely sunset picnic were included. The views were amazing and Uyuni is truly a special place. Highly recommended!
An absolutely amazing experience - after 3 weeks in South America my highlight! Santos was a wonderful and dedicated guide.
We never made it to Uyuni! We sat in the airport in La Paz for four hours while the flight to Uyuni was repeatedly delayed for rain, making a landing dangerous. I communicated with the tour operator regarding the delays and then when the flight was cancelled and that probably would be cancelled the following day due to a storm on the way. The tour operator simply said he was sorry and offered no path for a refund. I reached out to Viator for a refund, but the system didn’t allow me to explain the situation other than we did not show up for the tour. We learned from the State Department the next day that a snowstorm had shut down Uyuni and left 200 people stranded. This was so unfortunate because the main reason we came to Bolivia was to visit the Salt Flats of Uyuni.
Fabulous day - our guide Victor spoke great English as well as Spanish, and made the day very enjoyable. He took great perspective photographs and videos of us and took us to all the best places. Lunch was good, and sunset drinks with a bottle of wine to share was good despite being chilly’ We recommend!
If you only have 1 day in Uyuni I highly recommend this tour. It was fantastic🩵🤙🏽 Our tour guide Jose was excellent, knowledgeable, kind & gave us an extra treat seeing the stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Everything was perfect and the guide was excellent
There is also a pick-up service, but there is a tour company in the city center, so I walked to the meeting point. In addition to the Uyuni salt lake, they take you to salt factories and direct sales depots, as well as Cactus Island. The service was good because they took trick photos and videos using our smartphones. I think it is a satisfying tour for those who are going for the first time, although it is somewhat rushed.

From start to finish an excellent full and fun packed tour lead by our Guide, Juan. First its the Ghost Train Graveyard, great for history buffs and train fans then to a salt production town to understand the many uses of salt followed with a lunch. Then the best part; the Flats which are stunning with some fun pictures to take. After its a hike on Cactus Island, not strenuous but watch your foothold on the ascent before a return to the flats and onward to the sunset. Juan was a great Guide going out of his way to take many pictures. A tour not to be missed in Uyuni if its a day trip you want.
