De River Cave-Tubing Expedition is uniek omdat deze zich opent voor veel meer dan alleen "cave tubing" ... het is een combinatie van wandelen en verkennen, evenals slangen door belangrijke delen van één enkele ceremoniële grot - gebruikt door de oude Maya. Je ondergrondse expeditie neemt je buiten de gebaande paden om de oude Maya ceremoniële centra, aardewerk, voorwerpen, altaren, obsidiaanblokken voor bloedblazen, jade en de werkelijke voetafdrukken van de sjamaan en priesters te verkennen die dateren uit 400 A.D. Voor de lunch bereiden uw gidsen een picknick verspreid langs de rivier, compleet met picknickdeken, tortilla's met vleeswaren, sap en verse groenten en fruit. Je lunch eten met koplampen, naar de geluiden van de ondergrondse grotten tijdens het kletsen met je mede-avonturiers, zal een ervaring zijn die je niet snel zult vergeten. We booked the cave tubing expedition and it surpassed our expectations in so many ways. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the Mayan caves and the history. They were kind and even helped my mom navigate through the slippery rocks and water. The lunch the provided in the cave, by candle light was a cool experience. We ended the 5 hour journey with a cliff jump and short hike through the orange orchards.

The views/scenery was amazing, the experience was unlike anything I’ve ever had and Christopher, our guide was able to guide us as well as give us a lot of information about the cave, the trees and animals throughout the whole tour. He made the experience that much more enjoyable!

I had a fascinating time with Pedro from Cave's Branch lodge as he took me and two others through the cave, both on foot and floating in the river on tubes. Upon entering the cave we did have to paddle with our arms since we were going against the gentle current, this was a little tough on the shoulders. We had a delicious picnic lunch in the darkness of the cave. We frequently got out of our tubes to see Mayan artifacts. Pedro knew a lot about the cave's formation as well as as the history, geology, and even about the critters that live in the cave and the river. Would highly recommend for couples, friends, families with teens, and solo travelers. Might be a little long and a bit strenuous for younger children.
