Onvergetelijke Skellig Michael Boottocht

The ocean was too choppy that morning: we had a 30ish minute boat ride around the sheltered coast (enough to get a taste of why we were not venturing further out to sea). They were apologetic and refunded some of our money. The company did email the night and morning of the tour to warn us of the possibility. Got wet, enjoyed fresh air, and rocky cliffs.

Fab trip very lucky with the weather beautiful blue skies. Paul was excellent gave us great info about the Skellig Rock a beautiful magical place. Next time will be to climb it. Thanks Paul

Well when you talk about great experiences this surely was one. The journey was made all the better from the skipper Nicky. He was extremely funny, informative and also a gent. Whatever you pay this guy it should be more!! The boat tour covered both islands on every detail getting right into inlets to give an amazing experience, this lad knew the water. Nicky as I say gave a detailed guide of both islands with the expansive history, interesting facts mixed with a splash of humour. Mighty craic on the boat as he was the conductor. Top class all round, though no dolphins in sight, you can’t have it all. Keep up the great work Nicky. Micheál - Belfast

Great trip around the Skelligs with our skipper Nicky who was fantastic in sharing his knowledge of the islands with typical Irish humour. An expert skippering around all the inlets around both islands . Also lucky enough to see dolphins on the way there . Highly recommended and it did not matter that we were too early to land - fascinating trip .

It had been a rainy day but nonetheless we looked forward to our tour. We met captain Nicky, boarded the boat and put on our required safety gear and waterproof. After we emerged from the protected bay Nicky pointed out our first dolphins. They played around the boat for quite a while. Very exciting to see. Could not rate this trip high enough. As we reached Skellig Beag Nicky told us a lot about the gannets who made this island their home in the summer. He was full of knowledge and we loved the humour he brought to his information sharing. He took us all around the island and pointed out little bays and described the geology. We then headed for Sceilig Mhichil. Again Nicky told us of the 6th C monastic settlement, and pointed out the tip of the beehives from a distance. He also described the various paths up to the settlement and the use of guides in summer. We were shown the rock fall area and construction of rock shelter, the helicopter pad, the lighthouses and their histories, told about the wildlife and viewed several seals resting on the rocks. We saw the island from every side. It was a fantastic tour and we couldn’t rate Nicky’s input high enough….. well beyond a 5 star award. We would highly recommend this tour and especially Nicky

What a wonderful experience. Jay, our skipper was very interesting and knowledgeable about the Skelligs and the wild life.

Not worth it. Ride out to the islands is extremely wet and bumpy depending on weather. If you like Star Wars, this could be for you. If not, all you see is a big rock with thousands of white birds on it. It would be better to see when the Puffins are not away in Canada.

Awesome up close experience..!! Must do, well worth the wait… Next time, will do the hiking option..!!

Most exciting roundtrip with the boat circling Skellig Islands. Wheater was extra fine, no wind, flat sea. The captain special, pure Irish charm. Manoeuvred the boat at ideal conditions around the Cliffs and rocks of the skellig's like a cayak. Birds and delphine showed the skills and playfulness all-around us. What a day it was, closing with genuine goodies at the local pub at the port of departure.

Had a blast - boat captain/guide was funny and knowledgable. Great time! Super cool experience. The birds were insane!
