Tweede Wereldoorlog in Praag tour

Duik diep in het turbulente verleden van Praag tijdens deze aangrijpende WOII-tour. We onthullen de wortels van de Tsjechische democratie en de verhalen van degenen die alles opofferden voor vrijheid. Je hoort over een Tsjechoslowaakse held - een advocaat en politicus die zich inzet voor gelijkheid, vrouwenrechten en antifascisme - die te maken kreeg met nazivervolging en later werd geëxecuteerd door het communistische regime. Verken de locatie van 's werelds grootste standbeeld van Jozef Stalin en leer het tragische verhaal achter de bouw en vernietiging ervan. Reis ten slotte naar Praag in 1942, waar je de gewaagde moord op een hoge SS-officier, orkestrator van de Holocaust, en de heldhaftige piloten die deze dodelijke missie uitvoerden, zult ontdekken. Bezoek de catacomben waar een vuurgevecht met de SS plaatsvond, met kogelgaten die nog steeds zichtbaar zijn in de muren, waardoor de geschiedenis voor je ogen tot leven komt.

We ontmoeten elkaar in Palladium en nemen een tram naar onze eerste halte.
Onze reis begint met een heerlijke lunch in een charmant, traditioneel Tsjechisch restaurant, vol karakter.
We maken een korte tramrit naar de mooiste biertuin van Praag
We komen bij een charmante lokale biertuin. Het ligt naast de tennisbanen waar Martina Navrátilová begin jaren '70 werd gecoacht door haar vader. Wij genieten hier van een drankje en een boeiend verhaal.
We lopen een paar minuten richting onze volgende bezienswaardigheid.
We bezoeken een plek waar het voormalige standbeeld van Jozef Stalin stond. Hier hoort u het tragische verhaal van de beeldhouwer. Hij was de hoofdarchitect van de bouw ervan in 1949.
Vervolgens nemen we de tram naar een gezellig restaurant.
In het plaatselijke restaurant geniet je nog van een drankje terwijl je luistert naar het aangrijpende slotverhaal van de moord op Reinhard Heydrich.
We gaan verder naar de catacomben waar in 1942 een dramatische vuurgevecht plaatsvond tussen 800 SS-soldaten en de dappere piloten die zich in de kerk schuilhielden.
Onze laatste stop is een korte wandeling naar de waterkant van de rivier de Moldau, Naplavka. Dit charmante pad langs de rivier biedt een perfecte plek om te genieten van de lokale sfeer. Hier neemt uw gids afscheid, zodat u kunt ontspannen in de ambiance van deze prachtige plek.

Amazing tour of the back streets of Prague and related to WW2 and other great tales of Pragues heroes and villans. The guide Daragh is fab and chats away with great enthusiasm and happy to answer questions. Me and my wife loved this afternoon event. We can’t say enough good things about our tour with Daragh. We had taken a walking city tour the day before and considered canceling wondering if it would be repetitive. We are so glad we chose to go on this tour as it was a trip highlight for us! Daragh is an exceptional guide, vibrant, informed, and entertaining. We could easily discuss any number of topics and ask questions and Daragh handled it all seamlessly. We truly felt as if we were just walking through town with a great friend. We cannot recommend this tour and your guide enough. When we return to Prague, booking with Daragh would be a top priority for us!

What a wonderful afternoon spent seeing sights in Prague we would never have seen on our own. Our guide Daragh showed us the non touristy route and entertained us with amazing stories from Prague past resistance and WWII years. We stopped for a great meal away from the old center, stopped for an occasional beverage and enjoyed this amazing city with a small group of people that became friends by the end of our tour! This tour was worth every penny and minute! Highly recommend.

There were 8 of us on this one-on-one tour with Daragh through the Totalitarian Regime and he even included 2 extra stops in 2 beautiful churches. LOVED every minute of the tour, the places we visited with the history behind them, the trams we rode, both old and new, the beers we drank and the authentic lunch we enjoyed. This was an AMAZING tour, thoughtfully created and flawlessly executed. Darragh and his wife own this small tour company and I would take every tour they offer. The stories Darragh offered on this tour gave me a flavor of the strength and resilience of the Czech people. I saw parts of Prague I didn’t expect to see because the tour includes a ticket for the Prague transport system (and an explanation of how to use it). Darragh is a trained chef so I learned about Czech cuisine and where and what to eat and drink. And the tour itself was a start and stop affair where we walked a little, had a beer and talked a little, then repeated the cycle in a different part of the city. 10/10. I cannot give it a high enough recommendation. Do this!

This was a charming walking tour that my partner and I very much enjoyed. While billed as a WW2 tour, the story's that are focussed on cover history beyond just WW2 and includes items relating to the Soviet era following the conclusion of WW2 as well. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the stories that he was telling us and the places that we were visiting and was very relaxed and personable, allowing you to feel very at ease having a conversation with him. The tour includes a meal and the restaurant/pub that we ate at was lovely, it had a nice atmosphere and the food on offer was very tasty. We stopped for a drink at each subsequent location and our guide introduced us to the locally popular version of cola - kofola, which was a nice bonus at our 2nd stop. The tour is very unhurried, so there is plenty of time to ask questions and take in the sights around you and the walking is sedate and easy, so is fairly accessible for people. Personally, I would recommend taking this tour early in your stay in Prague as our guide was able to provide us with lots of suggestions on places to eat or visit during our stay, and was great at introducing us to the tram system in Prague, so making this an early activity on your trip means that you get a good amount of local information that you can use for the rest of your stay.
