Casa Carbonell, een modernistisch gebouw uit de jaren twintig. Volgens de legende werd het ontwerp gemaakt in opdracht van een textielindustrieel die zich bij aankomst vanuit Alcoy, tijdens een epidemie, vernederd voelde door zijn nederige uiterlijk.
Het stadhuis van Alicante, gebouwd in de 18e eeuw, is een opvallend voorbeeld van de Valenciaanse burgerlijke barok. De voorgevel bestaat uit twee symmetrische torens die het gebouw omlijsten. In de linkertoren bevindt zich het uurwerk, waarop het Romeinse cijfer "IIII" wordt gebruikt in plaats van de gebruikelijke "IV", een gebruikelijke gewoonte in de horlogemakerij die teruggaat tot historische tradities.
Vroeger heette dit plein het Galgenplein, omdat hier openbare executies plaatsvonden. Gelegen naast de oude muur en een van de belangrijkste poorten, vormde het een strategisch punt voor het straffen van de bevolking: de executies werden in het zicht van iedereen die de stad in- of uitging uitgevoerd.
Dit plein, voorheen bekend als Plaza de las Barcas, dankt zijn huidige naam aan de beroemde schrijver Gabriel Miró uit Alicante, wiens standbeeld sinds 1929 op deze plek staat. Het is een plek met een grote sentimentele waarde voor de inwoners van Alicante en een oase van schaduw en rust in het hart van de stad.
Deze voetgangersstraat is beroemd geworden vanwege de versiering met grote, kleurrijke paddenstoelen. Deze artistieke ingreep heeft de straat getransformeerd tot een icoon voor kinderen en fotografie.
Het Teatro Principal werd geopend in 1847 en is het culturele hart van Alicante. De neoklassieke gevel met Ionische zuilen is een van de architectonische iconen van de stad.
Deze pittoreske wijk, gelegen op de hellingen van de berg Benacantil, heeft nog steeds de Moorse architectuur met smalle straatjes, witgekalkte huizen en steile trappen.
Het is de oudste tempel in de stad, gebouwd op een oude moskee na de Reconquista. De gotische voorgevel en barokke details getuigen van de ontwikkeling van de kerk door de eeuwen heen.
Dit kasteel ligt op de top van de berg Benacantil en is al sinds de islamitische tijd een strategisch fort. Het is een van de grootste middeleeuwse forten van Spanje. De oorsprong ervan gaat terug tot de 9e eeuw, tijdens de overheersing Moslim.
Plaza de España is een van de belangrijkste openbare ruimtes van Alicante, gelegen vlak naast de Centrale Markt. Het is een druk gebied, zowel vanwege de commerciële activiteiten als vanwege de nabijheid van culturele instellingen en traditionele wijken.
In dezelfde wijk bevindt zich de historische stierenvechtersarena van Alicante, geopend in 1847 en een van de oudste in de regio Valencia. Er zijn stierenvechtshows, concerten en populaire evenementen georganiseerd. Hoewel het gebruik ervan is veranderd, blijft het een gebouw van groot belang voor het stedelijk erfgoed.
Het is het startpunt voor de mascletàs tijdens de vreugdevuren van San Juan. Elk jaar in juni komen hier duizenden mensen bijeen om het grootste festival van Alicante te vieren.
Dit stadsstrand ligt aan de voet van het kasteel en naast het historische centrum en is een van de bekendste stranden van de regio Valencia. De naam is afkomstig van de oude poort (tweede deur) die de stad met de kust verbond. Vandaag is een ideale plek om te ontspannen na de tour, met zijn promenade, palmbomen en kalme water.

Great experience - Don was a really good guide - so relaxing to sit in the tuk tuk, rather than walking round in the heat - a fantastic quick way to quickly take in the highlights of Alicante

Guide was good, nice friendly, saw some sights, only complaint is the tour on Viator said 1.5 hours and we were cut to 55 minutes. Seems they overbooked as they reached out early and tried to reschedule but we were in a cruise ship and could not.

Slightly disappointed. Firstly though, we couldn't fault the lady driver. Friendly, helpful and informative. Some very good historical titbits. However, it felt slightly underwhelming, perhaps because we are residents and knew a fair bit anyway. It covered the old town, new town, mushroom street, bullring, castle etc. Took 50 mins not 70 (maybe we didn't ask enough questions). The lady kindly altered our drop off point, which was appreciated. On the negatives, the tuktuk is not fantastically accessible if you have leg or knee issues. The tour commentary needed speakers really, rather than talking over road noise. And we didn't get our complementary water. Mixed review but on balance worth it for being something different.

Too expensive for what it is, not worth it, very little explanation, the girl was nice but she hardly spoke Spanish, which was the option I chose when making the reservation... a brief tour of unimportant parts of Alicante, or at least that is how we felt due to the lack of explanation... the only thing I can highlight is passing by Zetas Street and knowing how to get to Santa Catalina Castle, which of course we went to afterward, because they only gave us 10 minutes and we could only reach the door where we asked... quality-price ratio 0.

Sinceramente, nos resulta difícil entender una valoración tan extrema cuando la mayor parte de sus críticas se refieren a expectativas que no forman parte del producto contratado. La ruta, la duración, las paradas y el carácter panorámico del tour están descritos con total claridad antes de reservar. Un recorrido en tuk tuk por Alicante no es una visita guiada de varias horas al Castillo de Santa Bárbara ni una excursión a pie por cada monumento de la ciudad. Pretender lo contrario es simplemente no haber leído la descripción de la actividad. 🖤🛺 También resulta sorprendente afirmar que hubo “nula explicación” mientras destaca varios lugares que descubrió durante el recorrido y que visitó posteriormente gracias a las indicaciones recibidas. Si realmente no hubiera existido explicación alguna, difícilmente habría obtenido esa información. Respecto al idioma, la guía realiza tours en español de forma habitual. Que su acento o forma de expresarse no haya sido de su agrado es una cuestión completamente distinta a afirmar que “casi no hablaba español”. Lamentamos que sus expectativas fueran diferentes a la experiencia contratada, pero el tour se realizó exactamente conforme a la descripción publicada y aceptada en el momento de la reserva. ☀️💨
