Een dagtrip naar Tsavo East National Park is een populair "van dageraad tot schemering" avontuur voor reizigers die verblijven in Mombasa, Diani Beach, Watamu of Malindi. Het park is Kenia's grootste beschermde gebied en de thuisbasis van de beroemde "rode olifanten." Top bezienswaardigheden Rode Olifanten : Iconische kuddes die rood lijken van het wentelen in de ijzerrijke grond van het park. Aruba Dam : Een kunstmatige waterpoel die hoge concentraties wilde dieren aantrekt, vooral in het droge seizoen. Yatta Plateau : ’s Werelds langste gekoelde lavastroom, overspant 300km. Galana River : Bekijk nijlpaarden en krokodillen langs de oevers van deze palmbeschaduwde meerjarige rivier.

05 : 00 AM : Vertrek vroeg vanaf uw hotel of verblijf aan de kust om bij zonsopgang bij de ingang van het park aan te komen. De rit van Mombasa of Diani duurt meestal 2 tot 3 uur via de Mombasa-Nairobi snelweg. 08:30 – 09:00 AM : Aankomst en ochtend Game Drive. Kom binnen door de Bachuma Poort. Begin meteen aan je eerste gamedrive, op zoek naar de "Big Five" (leeuw, luipaard, olifant, buffel en neushoorn) en andere wilde dieren zoals giraffen, zebra's en jachtluipaarden. 11 : 00 AM : Scenic hoogtepunten : Aruba Dam, Een kunstmatige waterpoel die duizenden dieren aantrekt, vooral tijdens het droge seizoen. Mudanda Rock; Een inselberg die uittorent boven een natuurlijke dam. 13:00 uur : Lunch in Sentrim Camp 02 : 30 – 03 : 00 PM : Afternoon Game Drive Begin aan een laatste kortere gamedrive als je richting de uitgang van het park gaat, waarbij je je richt op het spotten van roofdieren die in de late namiddag actief worden. 03 : 00 – 03 : 30 PM : Exit en Return Verlaat het park en begin de rit terug naar de kust.

AVOID!!! From the moment my elderly mother and I were picked up until we were dropped off, the excursion was chaotic, frustrating, and dangerous. I was hounded across WhatsApp and phone calls in the early morning hours because they assigned a new driver and neglected to provide him my exact location. Despite confirming the address the night prior and in several chats / calls, the driver still struggled to locate my easy-to-find location. After some driving, another driver handed us off to a van which was not the Jeep clearly depicted in the activity pictures. There was no guide only an aloof, dangerous driver who mumbled a few words occasionally but provided zero context for the game drive. This driver was very reckless and we felt scared on many occasions, especially when he was throwing rocks at a lion to get it to wake up. Because he clearly did not know where to find the animals, the entire outing wasted our time and money. He didn't take us to any of the spots outlined in the activity description; we also didn't eat lunch in the park or go for a second game drive. Heading back to Mombasa was incredibly uncomfortable because there was no AC as promised in the activity listing. Overall, we were ripped off as we did not receive close to the value of what we paid for this activity.
Our small group tour of Tsavo East National Park was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Kenya. The park itself is विशाल and beautifully wild, with stunning landscapes of red earth, open plains, and scattered acacia trees. We were lucky enough to see elephants (covered in the famous red Tsavo dust!), lions, giraffes, zebras, and a variety of antelope and bird species. Every game drive felt like a new adventure. Traveling in a small group made the experience even better. It felt personal and unhurried, and our guide was incredibly knowledgeable — not just about spotting animals, but also about their behavior and the park’s ecosystem. We had plenty of opportunities to take photos and ask questions. If you’re looking for an authentic safari experience with breathtaking scenery and amazing wildlife, Tsavo East is a fantastic choice. I would highly recommend a small group tour for a more intimate and immersive experience. An absolute must for nature and wildlife lovers! 🐘🌅
