U kunt Ierland niet verlaten zonder een bezoek aan Blarney Castle! Tijdens deze dagtrip vanuit Dublin kunt u de beroemde Blarney Stone kussen, door de kasteeltuinen wandelen en in het Queenstown Story Museum in Cobh het ontroerende verhaal van de Ierse emigranten horen. U reist per trein en bus door het fantastische landschap en de rijke geschiedenis van Ierland.

Bij aankomst in Cork om 09:35 uur stappen we in onze touringcar door Cork City naar Blarney Village en het historische Blarney Castle – dat meer dan 600 jaar oud is. Verken de prachtige tuinen en neem de tijd om de beroemde steen te kussen, waarvan wordt gezegd dat deze de gave van eeuwige welsprekendheid schenkt aan degenen die het geluk hebben dit te doen. Er is ook tijd om te winkelen en te lunchen in Blarney Village. TIP! Wij raden u aan daar te lunchen, aangezien dit de enige gelegenheid gedurende de dag is om een stevige maaltijd te nuttigen. Je vertrekt om 13:30 uur uit Blarney. Ongeveer – of zoals aangegeven door uw gastheer – voor Cóbh, via het stadscentrum en een korte stadstour.
Toen koningin Victoria in 1849 Ierland bezocht, kwam ze naar Cóbh en de stad werd om haar eer omgedoopt tot Queenstown - het werd omgedoopt in Cóbh na de Ierse onafhankelijkheid in 1922. Cóbh was natuurlijk de laatste aanloophaven van de RMS Titanic en dit thema is goed uiteengezet. Het centrum huisvest ook veel informatie over de Grote Hongersnood en de daaropvolgende Ierse emigratie - 3 miljoen Ieren emigreerden uit Cóbh (voornamelijk naar de Verenigde Staten). De Lusitania werd getorpedeerd voor de kust van Cork - markeer de toegang van de Verenigde Staten tot de Eerste Wereldoorlog - en het kleine aantal overlevenden werd naar Cóbh gebracht als toevluchtsoord. Cóbh is ook het hoofdkwartier van de Ierse marine en je zult waarschijnlijk enkele marineschepen zien.

- Inchecken om 06.40 uur! De trein vertrekt om 7.00 uur en wacht niet. Onze gele incheckstand bevindt zich dicht bij de klantenservice op Heuston Station, waar onze vertegenwoordiger in hun HELDER gele jasje op u wacht!
- Om operationele redenen kan het soms nodig zijn om bepaalde routes te wijzigen.
- Minimumaantallen zijn van toepassing. Er is een mogelijkheid tot annulering na bevestiging als er niet genoeg passagiers zijn om aan de vereisten te voldoen. Als dit gebeurt, krijgt u een alternatief of volledige terugbetaling aangeboden.
- Kinderen U16 kunnen niet zelfstandig boeken. Zij dienen te allen tijde vergezeld te zijn van een ouder/verzorger.
- ROLSTOELBELEID: Onze reizen zijn een combinatie van trein en luxe touringcar en omvatten een gematigd niveau van fysieke activiteit, zoals korte wandelingen naar ontmoetingspunten enz. Helaas zijn zelfs de modernste luxe touringcars (bussen) niet rolstoelvriendelijk, daarom zijn onze tours dat wel niet geschikt voor mensen met mobiliteitsproblemen, en helaas kunnen wandelaars, rolstoelen en scootmobielen niet worden ondergebracht op onze reizen.

Had a great time on this excursion. Brian was a great host. Blarney Castle is gorgeous - don’t sleep on the gardens, they are worth exploring!! Very cute shops here too. Do know you only drive through downtown Cork, you don’t stop to explore Cork. I do wish we had more time to explore Cóbh instead of only one hour. If I could do it again I’d walk up to the main Cóbh village to take photos and see the shops instead of visiting the Heritage Center.
Interesting way to travel from Dublin, however it was a lot of waiting around while we had limited time at the points of interest. The “cork city tour” was only on the tour bus and the only places we got out was at the blarney castle (2 hours) and Cobh heritage center (1 hour). The interactions between the guide and the driver were heated at times. The guide made multiple comments about the driver affecting his tips, and told guests to make sure to tip them separately. The rules about food/drinks on the bus were strict, cold drinks only. We enjoyed Blarney Castle and the village but not sure this was the best way to do it.
Time is very limited at Blarney if there is a crowd for stone and castle. I would have preferred to stay there vs going to 2nd stop.
The train ride and bus were fantastic. Blarney Castle and the Blarney Stone are a must-see! Make sure you are clear on where to meet the bus after visiting the castle.

The train ride both ways was a welcome opportunity to rest on the second day in country. The Blarney tour was great although more time here and less in Cove would have allowed for a complete garden tour, castle tour and time at the Woolen Mill store. After getting lunch we just did not have time to shop. The time in Cove was good the Cathedral was beautiful. The immigration museum was very Focused on Titanic history and Lusitania sinking.

Brian was a friendly and very informative guide. It was a bit disjointed having multiple tours together, but I do understand why they structured it that way. I would recommend. Having participated in a bus tour two days prior, the speed of the train was a welcome change.
