Het ontmoetingspunt is op Plaza Antofagasta om 6.15 uur, voor het SaltaTrain Station, alle passagiers zullen inchecken met tickets en paspoorten. Zodra iedereen is geregistreerd en in de bus zit, begint de reis. Om 7.35 uur is je eerste fotostop in Campo Quijano, 30 kilometer van de hoofdstad. Keer om 8.05 uur terug naar de bus en maak de tweede halte bij Viaducto del Toro, gelegen aan de Quebrada.
Ga door en stop bij El Alfarcito, een plaats waar de traditie van lokaal handwerk in stand wordt gehouden. Geniet van een landelijk ontbijt en bezoek de ambachtelijke beurs. We zullen ook de Father Chifri Fundation bezoeken, een organisatie die helpt bij het verkrijgen van middelen en onderwijs en training biedt aan de lokale bevolking.
Daarna gaan we rechtstreeks naar San Antonio de los Cobres, een stad aan de voet van de heuvel Terciopelo. Aangekomen om 11:40 uur zullen we het treinstation bereiken en beginnen aan de symbolische trein naar de wolken.
Begin om 12 uur 's middags met de trein en ervaar de schoonheid van de natuur, stilte en onmetelijkheid. Aan boord is er bar, post en merchandising om van deze reis een plezier en een onvergetelijke herinnering te maken. Rond 13.00 uur arriveert u bij het Viaduct van Polvorilla, de meest erkende brug van het gebied. Hier daal je af van de trein en heb je 30 minuten om de plaats te verkennen en ongelooflijke foto's te maken. Stap terug in de trein en begin aan de terugkeer naar San Antonio de los Cobres, waar je rond 14.45 uur aankomt op het station.
Hier hebben we twee uur vrije tijd om de stad te verkennen, verschillende activiteiten te ervaren met de inheemse gemeenschappen, waaronder de Craft Market, een kleipot met je eigen handen maken of een trektocht maken met lama's ( optioneel, niet inbegrepen). Het is ook het ideale moment om van de lunch te genieten (niet inbegrepen).
Rond 16.30 uur, ga terug aan boord van de bus en begin onze terugkeer. Maak na een uur rijden onze laatste stop in het dorp Santa Rosa de Tastil, waar een van de grootste archeologische vindplaatsen van ons land ligt. Naar schatting heeft het ongeveer 3.000 mensen ontvangen.
Na deze stop van 20 minuten begint u aan het laatste deel van onze reis en arriveert u om 20:15 uur in de stad Salta.

This was a great day out. The coach was comfortable and there were quite a few stops along the way to break up the journey. We were lucky with the weather too.
An excellent tour - meeting point is clearly signposted, and transport is clean and modern. The train/viaduct is stunning and well organized but the journey to San Antonio is every bit it’s equal - the scenery is amazing. Well worth the time and expense.

This experience was a real highlight from our time in North West Argentina. Such a unique way to experience the mountains and get a feel for what traditional life was like there. Whilst also seeing the places where mining is happening and thermal pools are planned. Beautiful surroundings at a lovely pace. Highly recommend. If you come to this area and don’t do it, you’ve missed out. Note-only pesos are accepted on the train and by the traditional peoples selling their goods.
Very good experience. Just a repair: travelers should be advised to have lunch on the train as the suggested restaurant is very bad and the time for meals is small.
We paid over 700 usd for 3 persons . And when we asked if it was possible to reschedule our tour to another time it was not possible . All in all the cost is way too much compared with the experience.
Fun day. Very well organized. Amazing high altitude experience. Nice air conditioned buses with bathrooms which makes a BIG difference.
The tour is worth it and the photos are stunning. Now you will not hire the "Private Tour: Full Day Train Experience to the Clouds from Salta" for 375€. The train to the Clouds jumps bus-train-bus is exactly the same and costs 161€. Tangol Tours didn't even see them.reci

The tour company was fabulous, but it’s a long day and a long drive and not overly picturesque. Half the seats face at one way on the train and half face the other way. So you could be traveling backwards which makes me nauseous. The seats are pre-assigned at the train station.You’re knee and knee for quite a period of time with the people sitting across from you . It was worse than flying economy. It is nice that they have you change sides of the Planes halfway through the trip. All in all I’m not sure I would recommend this if you have other things you could do instead

BY VIATOR TRIPADVISOR WE PAY 4 TIMES MORE !!!!!! THAN MOST TOURISTS WHO TOOK THIS EXCURSION THE SAME DAY. We made the excursion with my wife on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, booked through Tripadvisor about a month earlier. We were picked up at the hotel by van and taken to the train terminal 10 blocks away. From there mic and then the train. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT WE TOOK WHEN WE WERE HANDED THE BUS-TRAIN-BUS TICKET THAT SAID $98,600 PER PERSON. When talking to other tourists, they had paid the amount mentioned on the ticket, plus approximately $3,000 taxi, for a similar journey we made by van. In short most paid a total of $101,600, at the official exchange of Argentina are U$S 109, of those present whom we asked, the maximum had paid U$S 150. US VIATOR TRIPADVISOR CHARGED US US$413.82 EACH !!!!!!!! APPROXIMATELY US$300 EXTRA EACH !!!!!!!! THEY BITTERED MY TRIP TO SALTA. I FOUND THE EXCURSION VERY GOOD BUT BEING ON THE TRAIN KNOWING THAT MOST HAD PAID 4 TIMES LESS THAN US, GENERATED A VERY UGLY FEELING. I cannot find the exact site on the Tripadvisor page to make this comment/complaint, I hope you will contact me to give me an explanation/refund, I use Tripadvisor services and this has never happened to me. I HOPE SOMEONE FROM VIATOR TRIPADVISOR WRITES TO US.
