Reis diep het park in aan boord van een aangepaste 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser terwijl uw Expert lokale Gids door steile zandstenen richels en delen van de legendarische White Rim Road navigeert. Leer onderweg over de geologie, ecologie en oude culturen die dit ruige landschap hebben gevormd, inclusief overblijfselen van de voorouderlijke Puebloan geschiedenis. Onze eerste stop bevindt zich op de Scenic Byway 279 bij een plaats met rotstekeningen. De gidsen geven uitleg over de mensen die hier rondreisden en de tekeningen achterlieten op de wanden van de kloven.
De Rock Art Sites van Moab bieden reizigers gemakkelijke toegang tot oude tekeningen verspreid langs paden, zelfs een beginner kan navigeren.
We rijden het Canyonlands National Park binnen via de 4WD-route en maken een korte trip langs de White Rim. Deze opvallende zandsteenformatie ligt met een lengte van zo'n 160 km rond het Island in the Sky.
Onze excursie langs de White Rim volgt de zandweg langs een harde richel naar Musselman Arch. Deelnemers kunnen een korte wandeling (300 meter) maken naar deze fantastische natuurlijke stenen boog.
We keren terug over de White Rim Trail naar de beroemde haarspeldbochten van het Shafer Trail. Deze oude veeweg klimt 1000 meter naar de rand van het Island of the Sky en biedt magnifiek uitzicht op het achterland van Canyonlands. De 4X4-route eindigt bij de Scenic Byway 313.
Deze 4 uur durende tour met uitleg van een gids begint aan de oever van de rivier Colorado en reist door Canyonlands op 4WD-wegen naar het plateau van het Island in the Sky.

Our guide, Marcia, was outstanding. She was exceptionally knowledgeable about the geology of Canyonlands and provided clear, informative commentary throughout the tour. What I particularly appreciated was that the narration remained focused on the landscape, geology, history, and natural features of the park. The route itself was spectacular. Climbing the Shafer Trail provided unforgettable views and a unique perspective on Canyonlands that cannot be appreciated from the overlooks alone. The scenery was breathtaking, and Marcia's explanations of the geologic processes that created the landscape added a level of understanding that made the experience even more rewarding. The pace was excellent, there were plenty of opportunities for photographs, and the entire tour was professionally conducted from start to finish. I have taken many guided tours over the years, and this ranks among the very best. If you have the opportunity to take this tour, I highly recommend it. Marcia's knowledge, professionalism, and enthusiasm for the geology of the region made an already outstanding tour even better.
