Tour naar Mount Faber, Henderson Waves en Southern Ridges

Ben jij iemand die van de natuur en wandelen houdt? Zo ja, laten we dan de Southern Ridges ontdekken, een reeks heuvels en parken die Kent Ridge Park, Hort Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park, Mount Faber Park en Labrador Nature Reserve met elkaar verbinden. Tijdens deze excursie trekken we naar de Henderson Waves, een voetgangersbrug die 36 meter lager een diepe vallei overspant. We gaan dan verder naar Faber Point, het hoogste punt in Mount Faber Park. Vanuit de observatiegebieden daar hebben we een panoramisch uitzicht over de stad, de zuidelijke regio van Singapore en de zuidelijke eilanden. Leer ook over het dagelijks leven van een gemiddelde Singaporese en de ontwikkeling van de huisvestings- en maritieme industrie in Singapore. Deze wandeling voert je door een secundair bos met een grote verscheidenheid aan flora en fauna. Terwijl we langs de boomtoppen lopen, moet je uitkijken naar de oosterse zweepslang die zich koestert op de takken, de roep van de cicade of het lied van de buulbuul met strokop. Deze reis is absoluut een paradijs voor natuurliefhebbers!

Ga over een verhoogde brug die door de adinandra belukar snijdt, een apart type secundair bos waar het bos regenereert na uitputtende landbouwexploitatie. Kijk uit voor de rijke flora en fauna, zoals de buulbuul met strokop, het weversmierennest of de oosterse zweepslang, tussen het bladerdak. Ik zal ook de soorten dieren in het wild met je delen die in Singapore te vinden zijn.
De Terrastuin bestaat uit een reeks halfronde terrassen op de top van de Telok Blangah-heuvel. Vanaf hier kunt u genieten van een adembenemend 360-graden uitzicht over Singapore. Als je geluk hebt, kunnen we misschien een zee van roze bougainvillea zien bloeien.
De Henderson Waves is een voetgangersbrug die 36 meter lager over een diepe vallei loopt. Het unieke golfachtige ontwerp van de Henderson Waves zorgt voor een ongewone aanblik en een beroemde fotoplek.
Faber Point is het hoogste punt van Mount Faber. Vanaf de uitkijkpunten hier hebben we een panoramisch uitzicht over de stad, het zuidelijke deel van Singapore en de zuidelijke eilanden. Als het weer goed is, kunnen we Marina Bay Sands van ver zien! Vanaf deze uitkijkpunten zal ik ook vertellen over het leven van de gemiddelde Singaporese, de ontwikkeling van de Singaporese huisvesting en het belang van de maritieme industrie voor Singapore.

Was an amazing tour, our tour guide was Keith and he was very friendly and very patient. Always waited for us to catch up when we were going up the stairs. He was also very informative about plants and trees we passed. Absolutely recommend anyone taking this tour with Keith! He is the best!!,

Fine day for a walk in the Southern Ridges. Keith was happy to spot not one, but two of our native green crested lizard together with you! And also the greater racket-tailed drongo. Julie and Paul are polite and happy to share their stories. Take care and safe flight home :)
Keith was a fabulous guide - very passionate and, as a Singapore local, very happy to share his knowledge of local life and culture, as well as the plant life we saw along the way. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone keen to see the green and largely unseen part of Singapore that lies so close to the centre. A reasonable degree of fitness is a prerequisite. While Keith takes plenty of time to stop and explain things along the way, getting up Mt Faber takes some energy!

This is a very well organised trip and Keith, our guide, provided very professional and clear communication via Whats App prior to the event, even adjusting the start from 8:30am to 9:30 am to accommodate our request due to our jetlag. The starting point at Hort Park office is easily reached by taxi for a reasonable price. On the morning of our walk the heavens opened and it started to rain heavily but this did not dampen our experience as Keith was really enthusiastic and professional and talked to us about a whole range of life, history and culture in Singapore. The walk itself is easy but there are some steep bits and some steps to navigate so should be borne in mind by those with mobility needs. The walk enabled us to see the nature that surrounds the city and when we reached the top of Mount Faber this afforded us with a brilliant view. Fortunately the rain had stopped at this point so we could see for miles. Keith was really entertaining and had a great sense of humour. He speaks really good English and was also very interested in what's happening around the world so we enjoyed good overall conversation as well as learning lots about the Singaporean way of life. Along the way he invited us to taste local produce from the area, including the notorious Durian fruit which has a very specific smell and taste and is not for the faint hearted! The end of the walk is located at the Mount Faber cable car station and I had booked a separate ticket for the cable car in order to combine the end of the walk with a trip over to Sentosa Island. I would recommend this combination to make a full day. Keith showed us the entrance to the station which was very kind. Thankyou Keith for being a great guide. A perfect way to amble away a rainy Sunday morning in Singapore.

Keith our local guide walked us through Hort Park , Henderson Wave Bridge and Mt Faber look out at a comfortable scenic pace. Keith was able to inform and answer our questions regarding the trees and plant growth, history of the area and knew where to take some lovely memorable photos along our walk.
