Een bezoek aan de Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is een essentiële ervaring als je in de VAE bent. Dit architecturale meesterwerk is vervaardigd door ambachtslieden van over de hele wereld, waarbij gebruik werd gemaakt van weelderige materialen zoals goud, marmer en halfedelstenen. Als de grootste moskee in de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten en een van de grootste ter wereld, biedt zij plaats aan maximaal 40.000 gelovigen tegelijk. Gelegen in de hoofdstad van de VAE, Abu Dhabi, is deze majestueuze plek een bewijs van de pracht van het land. Het is genoemd ter ere van Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, de eerste president van de VAE en de visionaire oprichter van de moskee. Zijn mausoleum bevindt zich op het terrein van de moskee, en het is belangrijk op te merken dat de moskee openstaat voor mensen van alle nationaliteiten en religies, niet alleen voor moslims. Mohammed was our guide. He gave us some very informative information about the AEU. We learned so much from him. Loved visiting the Grand Mosque and the Louvre museum. My husband is not one to keep the WiFi on unless absolutely necessary. We use the public WiFi so we don’t have to pay roaming charges. Because of this we had a small problem communicating our meet up points. Other than that our tour went very well and we enjoyed our day.
