Tijdens deze tour krijg je de gelegenheid om een van de hoogtepunten intiemer te bezoeken, je dag te delen met andere reizigers maar grote groepen te vermijden: geniet van het uitzicht op het prachtige landschap in combinatie met de Altiplanic Lagoons, met water van een intens blauwe gevoede door ondergrondse rivieren van thew. Bezoek daarnaast Talar Salt Flats, bekend als Piedras Rojas en bewonder de intense kleuren van de rotsen! Een reis die je niet mag missen!

Nadat je 's ochtends wordt opgehaald bij je hotel in San Pedro de Atacama, begin je je avontuur in verbazingwekkende en dorre landschappen.
Maak je eerst klaar om deze specifieke stad te leren kennen. Het betovert door zijn eenvoud, de rust van zijn mensen, het klimaat, het handwerk en de architectuur, waar aardse en witte kleuren in overvloed aanwezig zijn. Het is een oude stad gebouwd met vulkanisch gesteente en een oase, het zoete water maakt de teelt van allerlei soorten fruit en groenten mogelijk.
Vervolgens ga je naar Los Flamencos National Reserve om de marginale zone van de Atacama Salt Flats te bezoeken. Je bereikt de Chaxa-lagune, gelegen in de noordelijke sector van de Atacama-zoutvlakte, waar je flamingo's in het wild en trekvogels kunt zien. Bekijk de zoutkorsten op het oppervlak van de Salar, ontstaan door de verdamping van zout grondwater. Je hebt wat vrije tijd voor foto's.
Maak vervolgens kennis met het kleine altiplanische dorp Socaire met zijn iconische kerk en zijn landbouw. Het bevindt zich op 3.500 meter boven zeeniveau en is het belangrijkste natuurlijke balkon van de Atacama-zoutvlakten. Socaire was vroeger belangrijk vanwege zijn goudmijnen en wordt tegenwoordig gekenmerkt door zijn typische keuken. Hier heeft u enkele minuten om de kerk (historisch erfgoed) te bewonderen.
Eindelijk, het moment waar je op zat te wachten; je komt aan bij Miscanti en Meñiques Altiplanic Lagoons. Sta versteld van het intens blauwe water dat wordt gevoed door ondergrondse rivieren en geniet van het omringende landschap van vulkanen en bergen. De lagunes bevinden zich op 4.300 meter boven zeeniveau en worden omringd door het Andesgebergte en de vulkaan Meñiques. Houd je ogen wijd open; hier kunt u flamingo's en andere vogels zien (soorten zoals Tagua Cornuda, Parinas Chicas, de Caití, Baird's Sandpiper, Puna Plover, Pato Juarjual en de Guallata).
Om je ervaring verder te vergroten, begin je een wandeling van 1 uur langs de uitlopers van de zuidelijke Andes, richting Talar Salt Flat, ook bekend als Piedras Rojas, een plek waar de rotsen gekleurd zijn door natuurlijke oxidatie en verwering. Een perfecte plek voor foto's!

The tour itself is amazing and the organization by the local agency was fantastic! BUT if you book it directly with the local agency instead of Viator, the price is 1/3rd of the price Viator asked for! So you can save 2/3 of the money if you go directly to the local agency and book the tour there! 2/3rd margin is sorry but what do you think about yourself??? It is a theft!!!

The tour itself was great, and I would recommend doing a similar tour. However, the issue I have with this listing is that the tour agency offering it is based in Argentina and essentially partners with a place in Atacama that helps fill buses for other random tour operators. We were placed with Horizonte and had Cami as our guide, who was great. The going rate for this tour from most agencies based in San Pedro is about $60 USD with additional entrance fees, which is less than half of what this tour charges. Save your money and just book in person when you get to the desert- there are more than enough spots to book day prior and you'll get a much better deal.

Absolutely loved this tour with Ernesto, our incredible guide. He went out of his way to make everyone feel welcome and cared for, and we had a great group. The communication leadinf up to the tour was excellent - very clear instructions via WhatsApp, including the exact pickup time. In addition to making us great meals, he shared information about the area as we drove about and at each stop. He's also an excellent photographer and shared group pics with everyone. The lagoons, flamingos, etc. were all excellent but Piedras Rojas was the highlight for me - unlike anywhere I've been. Wonderful tour, wonderful guide, highly recommend.

The tour was great and we visited many of the best sites in Atacama. The guides were excellent, knowledgeable and very friendly. Because of the distances between the sites was significant and worth the drive, the drives were long. This was ok, but there were 1 or 2 too many people in the van we were in. Being last in I was in the last row of four, between some big folks and it was very uncomfortable after a 9 hour tour. The tour company needs to consider that the space available in the van may not adequate if there are some larger folks and therefore book a couple less people. It is a small group tour. This is the only negative on a good day.
Walk is not pleasant for family, due to lack of a better feeding structure. And not everyone will enjoy the feeling of lack of pleasure and nausea.
