Kom en ervaar de magie van Cholula en Atlixco! Begin je avontuur met het verkennen van het imposante heiligdom van Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, het historische klooster van San Gabriel Arcángel en de majestueuze Grote Piramide van Cholula, de grootste piramidevormige basis ter wereld. Geniet van vrije tijd op de Plaza de la Concordia, waar u kunt genieten van de lokale keuken, foto's kunt maken en unieke souvenirs mee naar huis kunt nemen. Dompel jezelf vervolgens onder in de kleurrijke charme van Atlixco, waar je verse planten en bloemen kunt kopen in de kwekerijen en ontdek de meest emblematische hoekjes van de Zocalo, de parochie van Santa María de la Natividad, de beroemde brede trappen, een must-see voor Instagrambare foto's, het voormalige Franciscaner klooster en het panoramische glazen uitkijkpunt.

Onze tour begint met een bezoek aan Cholula, dat vanwege zijn historische en culturele rijkdom bekendstaat als een magische stad. We bezoeken de Grote Piramide van Cholula, de piramide met het grootste grondvlak ter wereld qua volume. Bovenaan bevindt zich het Heiligdom van Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van de Remedies, een 16e-eeuwse tempel met een prachtig uitzicht over de vallei. Daarna gaan we naar het Ex Convento de San Gabriel, een van de oudste Franciscaanse complexen in Mexico, gebouwd in de 16e eeuw. Het valt op door zijn sobere architectuur en zijn grote open kapel, die een sleutelrol speelde in de evangelisatie van de regio. We vervolgen onze tocht op de Plaza de la Concordia, het hart van de stad, omgeven door traditionele arcades. Tot slot bezoeken we de tempel van Santa María Tonantzintla, beroemd om zijn inheemse barokke interieur uit de 17e en 18e eeuw, een voorbeeld van de vermenging tussen inheemse traditie en het katholieke geloof.
We gaan naar het magische stadje Atlixco, een stad met pre-Spaanse wortels en die tijdens het koloniale tijdperk van groot belang was vanwege haar landbouw- en textielproductie. Dankzij het gunstige klimaat en de kleurrijke kwekerijen staat het tegenwoordig bekend als "Atlixco van de bloemen". Onze eerste stop is bij het uitzichtpunt van Cerro de San Miguel, een iconische plek bekroond door de kapel gewijd aan de aartsengel Michaël, gebouwd in de 16e eeuw. Deze heuvel was vroeger een ceremonieel centrum en is tegenwoordig een van de meest representatieve plekken van de stad. Vanaf de top kunt u genieten van spectaculaire uitzichten en ongelooflijke foto's maken met de vulkanen Popocatépetl en Iztaccíhuatl als majestueuze achtergrond.
Bij onze derde en laatste stop bezoeken we het Ex Convento del Carmen, dat in 1608 door franciscanen werd gesticht aan de voet van de Cerro de San Miguel. Het is gewijd aan de Maagd van Carmen en is een historisch en religieus monument van de stad. Tijdens onze afdaling zien we de traditionele brede trap, waarvan de treden versierd zijn met muurschilderingen van de lokale kunstenaar Juan Manuel Martínez Caltenco, met bloemmotieven die de identiteit van Atlixco vertegenwoordigen. Daarna nemen we een pauze bij ijssalon Ximitl om seizoensgebonden, ambachtelijk ijs te proeven. We vervolgen onze weg langs Calle de las Flores richting het zócalo om de met mozaïek versierde Atlixco-kiosk en de 17e-eeuwse parochiekerk van Santa María de la Natividad te bewonderen, en eindigen met de muurschilderingen van het stadhuis.

We were expecting a more walking tour of the cities but it was still ok going solo on our own. We booked a Spanish tour by error so we had to wing it. It’s was a few churches visit and shopping area like a Mercado mainly for the tour in both cities visited.

We had a wonderful experience on this tour. We appreciated the flexibility that Pablo showed us in taking us to visit some of the places that we requested, both in Cholula and Atlixco. The van was clean and the driver went out of his way to drop us off at home. Both destinations are a must for anyone new to the Puebla area. So much history in Cholula and Atlixco is one of the most charming Pueblo Magico cities that we've seen in Mexico This was my second trip with Bufon Tours and they are a first class company...well organized, reasonably priced, and flexible

The guide very professional, friendly and nice. The tour was scheduled for 9:00, which changed to 10:00, so we had no problem, thinking that the estimated tour time would be covered. I missed the visit to the nursery and the lunch time in Atlixco, from the visit to the nursery, told us that there was no longer time, our mistake was not to require him to take us. of the lunch time I do not even mention it, I only recommend a restaurant, in case we were interested in returning later. The tour ended at approximately 2:30.
